[So look at who finally dragged himself away from the library.

This time, Vyse is in his own bedroom in Freya, (...and an observant eye might notice the room is a mess already) looking somewhat more subdued than the last time he showed up on the network, thoughtful even.]

Hey, I got a question...

We all got brought here from our own different worlds, right? Whatever we were doing there, suddenly we're here now. And those gods can brings lots of us from the same worlds, right?

So I guess what I'm wondering is... Have any of you had someone you know show up and not remember you anymore? I don't get how it could happen. Did the gods do something to them when they got taken here?

Um... [A pause. Wait a minute, the gods did do something to all of them!!] Besides the powers anyway!

[Not even filtered from the person this is about. Discretion, what's that

Just as he's about to end the feed, though, he stops, as if remembering something. He smiles now, almost looking embarrassed.]

Oh, I'm Vyse, by the way! Guess I forgot to introduce myself last time.

[The feed begins with a woman looking at the books inside the Library, totally astounded by the number of them here.]

This library really is quite impressive... Its selection is perhaps even larger than Mudie's.

[Remembering why she started the video in the first place, Mary goes back to looking at the video again, hastily introducing herself.]

Oh yes, I haven't introduce myself, have I? My name is Mary, Mary Clarissa Christie. It's a pleasure to meet you all... Even under these circumstances. Certainly, I still don't quite agree with how it brought us here, but if we really can help this place regain its colour just by talking with one another, then I will just have to do my part as well, I suppose,

[Still thinking of what subject she could use to start a conversation with, the girl settles with what's around her. It might be kind of awkward, but at least, it's a start.]

So... umm, if you don't mind answering, that is, what's your favorite book?

[The video turns on to display an red-headed young woman sat primly at a table, who despite her confident posture looks awfully tired.]

Ah, I see. It’s recording already. Hello, everyone. My name is Mitsuru Kirijo, and I have been informed that this is a communications network for conversing with the other residents who have been brought here very much in the same manner that I was earlier this week. I... imagine that this may be a difficult time for many of you, since as I understand it people can arrive from any point of their lives, times when they may still have important business left unattended.

Yet, despite that, I hope that I will find that this is a community that will support each other through through thick and thin, the good and the bad. Additionally, I was also hoping that you would assist me now. I know that you must be asked this often, but I was curious about your experiences here. About how long it has been since you arrived in this place, what you’ve achieved and how difficult it was to adjust. That, and any other related information.

[She attempts a smile, but there’s a look in her eyes that appears to indicate that more than anything she’s curious for answers to her queries, especially the latter-most.]

Thank you in advance for your time; I greatly look forward to meeting you all.

Hihi, ladies, gentlefolk, and loyal fans! It's time for Mami's second round of creature info! She might not know animals as well as Hibikin, but Mami is a complete faerie expert when it comes to strategy!

Ufufu...did you know, they're very hateful? Even though these faeries look young and playful, they don't want to be friends at all! Maybe if you're good at charming, you can try, though! Mami's seen that a lot of them move in numbers, but there are still solo agents that come in the night!

[By the way, there's a trio of faeries right behind Mami in the shot. She knows they're there, and for once, she's surprisingly well hidden and bundled up for this sort of thing.]

Ice creatures are obviously weak against fire! Odie's troops will be super useful here. They aren't very smart, either, even if they look like people. They move pretty slowly, too, and if you're inside, they don't try very hard to get in!

That concludes Mami's report! Feel free to ask questions.

[And the feed ends. For now. About five minutes later, it continues.]

Cutie Librarian Strategist Mami is requesting back-up in the Lokin district! She repeats! That title is kinda long, though, so she won't say that part again. Requesting back-up in Lokin district! Ohimechin, Yakuza-san, please! Mami is cornered! Remember, [she starts, pulling out a heavy-looking wooden hammer from behind her. Seriously? That's her weapon? A wooden hammer?] unity is strength!

[The feed ends. For those who come to her aid, she's somehow attracted the attention of eight or nine of these damn faeries with her broadcasting. She's trying to keep them back by climbing up, but she's kind of cornered in an alley. Good luck, Mami!]

[The screen blips up to show a disgruntled blonde in military blues fingering the hilt of her sword.]

I don't know how you brought me here, but I will find you one way or another. You don't give a battle seasoned, front of the lines general her weapon when you take her captive. Or excessive strength for that matter.

If I don't get some real answers soon, I will be adding color to this place, but not in the way I assume you want. I'm sure it will be a beautiful red until it dries, though.

[If one looks closely, they can probably tell she's outside the welcome hall of the Thor district.]

16 February 2012 @ 10:32 pm
[The feed starts on what might not be an entirely expected place: the library in the Odin District. Here, a young man is sitting back on a table, a sizable stack of books beside him and a wide grin on his face. He's not paying much attention to the bracelet in front of him though, but at the shelves of books around him.]

Whoa! This is incredible! It's one of the most amazing things I've ever seen...

How did you all get all of these books in one place? It's got to have taken a long time. Does even Valua have these many?

But you guys do! And you're just letting us look at them whenever we want...

[Clearly awed, he finally looks away from the shelves and to the bracelet.]

I guess books can't be that hard to find here. I don't have that many of them back home, but you sure have a lot of them.

[This is clearly an important point to repeat. And now he points to the stack he'd set beside him, grin growing even wider.]

You guys even have all these books on sailing! I don't know how long it's gonna take me to finish all of these.

This place is amazing!

[Wait, what, there's a war and worlds to save? Nevermind that, there are books on sailing to be read!!]

...Hey, anyone know if there are any maps here?

06 February 2012 @ 06:10 pm
[ the feed switches on with a familiar grumpy face. he isn't looking at the screen directly; rather, he seems to be staring at something on his lap - his hands, which is now decorated with the bracelet once again. after a quiet moment, he finally speaks. ]

... I cannot say this comes as a surprise.

[ he releases a soft sigh, closing his eyes. ]

My return had been expected. It is logical that I must return here to finish what I have started. If there is a task - or, tasks, rather - I must complete in order to return home, I shall do just that. However, if the Gods in charge can see this, I only ask that you do not send me back home only to bring me back - it is a waste of both of our time.

[ not that Gods have limited time. Kanbei, on the other hand, does. ]

To the current residents... if you intend to request for the method of which had brought me home, save your breath. I have no such knowledge.

[ aand feed clicks off. ]

24 January 2012 @ 02:09 pm
[Someone's curled up on a big comfy couch in Odin with a book open and a few more piled up next to him. Shock. If you bother to look closely enough to check the titles, though, Hanbei seems to be done with all that reading up on modern technology for now, and he's now wading through stuff on...multiverse theory, alternate realities and timelines. Huh.]

So, there already seems to be a pretty solid network of theories in place about all possible variations of reality existing. Including ones that are very similar with only minor differences.

But there's plenty about that in the books already. I'm not looking for theories, I'm looking for evidence - since I think I've seen a few things here and there to suggest it. People who should know you but don't, people who shouldn't know you but do... [and now the one that really interests him, after ceilingcatting all over Hisahide's intro] - people with names and backgrounds that match someone you know, but who clearly aren't the same people. How many of you have run into something like that?

Oh, and if anyone in Hel has seen Kuroda Kanbei lately, tell him to go outside before he starts to mold, will you? Sunlight is good for you.

[Kanbei was recently dropped, so he probably won't have been seen in a bit! But Hanbei hasn't found out about that yet. :( ]

[Elika's writing diligently in neat but flowing handwriting, her eyes darting back and forth between what she's writing and the broadcast.]

Bear with me, I'm going to talk a lot in a moment. [whatever she was working on, she finishes and closes the notebook.]

So, I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to help me with a census. The names of everyone here, where they come from, what language they speak, what House they're in and with what power... More besides, if we wanted. There's no purpose to it except knowledge and curiosity. If there's anyone actively trying to find a way home, it would be available to them if they wish to look for patterns or whatever. [she waves a hand impatiently] I won't lie and say it's not for my own curiosity as well. I'd like to see what patterns there are, if any - and I wouldn't mind just keep tracking of how many people are here in general and how we've been disbursed among the Houses.

[there's a smirk and a dry tone as she adds:] The biggest problem with a census is tracking those not willing to participate. Though I'm perfectly willing to just have a margin of error and not really worry about it, considering this, again, doesn't have much purpose besides killing a few cats.

Of course, there could be more practical applications - finding out who has any medical or healing knowledge or ability. I know Sigyn has an actual healing power and there's the hospital as well, but I think it would be useful to know if there's anyone nearby in the case of an emergency, so that immediate medical attention can be given until the injured person in question can be moved to the hospital or a Sigyn healer can arrive. Zen has a small clinic set up in the Heimdall House, and I think it might not hurt to have similar setups in the other Houses.

I'll probably also like to make packages of information for easy reference for newcomers, with addendums for those who arrive from special circumstances. [she spreads her hands, a smirk drawing across her features] I definitely would have appreciated one on "electricity" when I arrived, so I figured I should make it a little easier for anyone else like me who didn't have this kind of technology.

I'd appreciate any suggestions or recommendations. Help, too, if you're interested.

[Filtered from Kyrie and Credo.]

Okay, so who’s gonna shed some light on the dead people thing for me? I knew this place had a pretty twisted sense of humor, but now I think that these so called “Gods” are just a bunch of sick bastards.

[Yeah no, Nero is not happy right now. The situation doesn’t call for it, even if any normal person would jump at the idea of seeing their dead relative again.

But when the last image you have is of them being impaled on a sword? When they suddenly reappear and open up old wounds? Create new ones? Then there’s only anger, in an almost irrational sense.

Especially when you’re as emotional as this guy right here.]

Are any of the rest of you dead? Now’s the time to lay it on the table if you are.

[When the video snaps on it shows Elena standing just outside the Welcome Hall of Freya. Her eyebrows are raised, but other than that she doesn't look too emotionally traumatized by the sudden relocation]

You know, I have to say, I wouldn't expect the Norse gods to be this up-to-date with technology. It's kinda impressive.

[She shakes her head, glancing back over her shoulder at the Welcome Hall, before giving the camera her best stage-smile.]

So, it looks like the theme here is either indignant rage at everything or canned introductions. I'm gonna have to go with the latter. At least, for now. I'll save the rage card until after I've had a look around.

I'm Elena Fisher. From the planet Earth, 2011 A.D. I'm apparently taking up residence in the Freya district, but I was living in Yemen as a foreign news correspondent. I look forward to getting up in everyone's business.

[She's joking about that. Mostly.]

15 January 2012 @ 08:23 pm
The middle of a new wave of arrivals seems as good a time as any to share this.

As far as I've noticed, there are quite a few of us here who aren't used to the level of technology present in this city. If you just want to know how to make dinner without setting the kitchen on fire, go ask somebody to show you how things work. It'll be faster.

But if you want to know not just how to use what's here, but how it actually works:

[and then there is a nice neat list of titles from the library intended to give a good overview of the development of science and technology, through about a twenty-first century level. annotated, in fact, with helpful notes like "read the one above this first if you want it to make sense," or "this is good but the diagrams are awful," or "this one is very informative, if you happen to have a strong masochistic streak." no, really.]

This will not be enough information to solve all the lapses of communication you may run into, but it will help.

(On that note, I'm currently seeking resources on modern slang, because some of you are nigh incomprehensible. Suggestions would be appreciated.)

They have some nice games here. Since everything here is pretty much provided for us, I've gotten a chance to relax away from dealing with work all the time in ways I never even dreamed of before. It's nice. I'm sure the gods thought of that and that's why they're doing this. But, uh, that isn't what I wanted to talk about. Well, it sort of is sort of isn't. I know not everyone is like me...

What I really wanted to ask about is the presence of a police force. I mean, everything seems pretty calm and peaceful now, but that's because we're all still getting our bearings. It's not like everyone brought here is going to be calm and peaceful all the time. So, I guess what I'm asking is if anyone had any thoughts about that?

And government, too, this place seems like it's just waiting to become a City-State or something along those lines. Maybe we should start looking at things more in the long-term, since we're all apparently stuck here for the rest of our lives. I mean, all right, maybe even if we ourselves have peace our whole lives, what about any children that are produced? And their children? We might want to look at setting something up for the future.

I'm Adachi, for anyone who doesn't know. I know I haven't made my presence all that clear on this thing before, so for formality's sake: everyone, it's nice to meet you.

[ As the video starts, Hephaestion can be seen sitting on a couch with an expression of mild confusion on his face. After a moment, it becomes obvious that he's watching television - or rather, staring at it. ]

I understand that we come from different worlds, so asking this may be pointless, but according to a friend I'm missing around two thousand years of history.

I am... simply at loss as to where to begin.

[ the screen flashes on mid-motion, while someone—fenris—is making an angry gesture, quick and sharp. it’s that which probably switched the bracelet on—that and the fact that he isn’t very used to the technology yet. ]

...of all people, that I had to be stuck here with you.

[ the camera shifts as his fingers twitch to show that he’s addressing anders—who notices the device’s activity before its owner and adjusts his posture accordingly, in order to be seen better. ]

You know, Fenris, that reminds me—general questions seem to turn up some interesting responses in this place, don’t they? Why don’t I give one of my own a go. Dear citizens: Is there anyone that you would not, under any circumstances whatsoever, wish to find yourself kidnapped with? Someone whose very presence is an offense to all you hold dear? [ oh, is that sneer on his face too apparent? what a shame. ] Just curious! No reason in particular.

[ fenris yanks his wrist back, neatly ruining the frame of the shot. performance has never been his strong suit, despite his penchant for theatrical speech. ]

Perhaps when Hawke finds us a way out of here, you can remain behind. Kidnapped all alone, just as you prefer.

[ and the curtain falls. ]

[It comes to no surprise that Kayneth had kept silent upon his arrival and spent some time gathering his bearings-- being plucked mid-battle along with the sudden loss of his Mystic Code was not quite the welcome befitting of one his rank, scouted by the gods-- aside. Being separated from Victory close at hand and his beloved was not doing his blood pressure any favors, either. Even so (if only for the moment) he will keep his silence about these ‘Gods’; for one, he’d require more proof then a mere letter(much too simple for his tastes. Reality Marble, perhaps? Even if he’d be willing to believe such a tale, Kayneth Archibald El-Melloi does not take kindly to those with the worrying ability in keeping him in the dark), and the main reason--for the first time in his life, he cannot access his magic circuits.

Outwardly calm only because he’d managed to push panic aside-- deal with later-- he turns his attention to the bracelet, pondering his next move; was he to announce his presence as he would have in any other situation, or not?

Finally activating the bracelet with little difficulty, he began addressing others ‘chosen’ by the gods.
]

The ninth head of the Archibald house, Kayneth El-Melloi, seeks audience with those in the House of Odin.

[Weed out potential threats from those worthy from such a selection would be a difficult but much needed process. Loathe as he would in working with others, even he knew when his pride must suffer for his survival. Conflicting emotions aside, he is anxious on better knowing this ‘Asgard’, since--knowledge is half the battle. He frowned. ]

As for the others- I wish to compile our information on the situation at hand.

[ the feed starts off with a flash of the ceiling! and then it jerks suddenly, to a glint of a yellow, crescent-shaped object on top of someone's head... and then jerks some more, until the view settles onto the face of a rather bored looking man with an eyepatch and helmet. he raises a hand. ]

Yo. If you see some ice guy around... Tell him the One-eyed Dragon, Date Masamune's, on the look-out for him. All ri-- [ wait, that's wrong. he cuts off and after a pause repeats, in english: ] All right?

Never seen anything like him before. He was a cool-- [ . . . damnit. trying that again. engrish, go: ] cool kind of guy.

That's it.

[The video feed opens up to reveal the Boss in what... appears to be somewhere in house Baldr.]

Right. Listen up, just because we're in some weird-ass city doesn't mean that shit's changing.

[The Boss is looking fairly serious now as he looks into the camera.] Apparently some of you guys haven't heard of the 3rd Street Saints. Well listen up, you chucklefucks, because we got an understanding to come to.

We are a fucking enterprise and we're going to own this city. Got a problem with it, you can take your concerns to Johnny. I'm sure he'll be thrilled to hear that you don't like it. Really sympathetic guy. Good listener.

[He doesn't sound in the least bit sarcastic. Also the previous sentence was a lie, because yeah, he does. Based on the Boss's tone of voice, whoever Johnny is, the number of fucks he is going to give is approximately zero.]

Now, the way I see it, y'all got three options. You can be cool, like Bayonetta, you can stay the fuck out of our way, or you can find out if this is the afterlife. Your call.

[...after a moment.] And the first fucking person to tell me where we can play some skeeball gets canonized.

[It's a video post, but people are welcome to find him as well and talk to him in person!]

Unlike most of you, who are needlessly worrying about how we got here, so I will skip to introductions. My name is Sherlock Holmes, consulting detective.

The task these 'Gods' gave us though are preposterous. They put us as heroes, something that no one has ever been or will be.

SH

P.S.: If someone has seen a man by the name of John, report to me.
P.S.S.: If not, report to me anyways.
