Forensic Unit | Now Recruiting.

Founded Day 39, the Forensic Unit started out as a sub-section of the hospital laboratory, its members focused on using their experience in the art of observation and detection to investigate suspicious deaths and accidents occurring within the city as well as use their experience and knowledge to learn more about the city as a whole. As our members increased and our scope expanded, the Forensic Unit has expanded to become a hospital department in its own right. With Ragnarok on the very near horizon, the Forensics Unit is looking to put our collective experience in research and planning to even better use. To that end we're looking for new recruits.

If you:
Want to be involved in the war effort but don't fit the traditional role of a solider;
Have been involved in volunteer activities in the past or have experience organising people;
Are genuinely curious about this world we're in;
Enjoy research;
Are creative, flexible and reliable;
Then you might be what we are looking for.

If this interests you, please fill out the form below. Your honesty is appreciated but if you'd rather that the information you choose to share is not readily viewable to all on the network, feel free to use the private filter. Rest assured that your personal information will not be shared.

Yours,
Edogawa Conan.

[TEXT TO ALL OF ASGARD.]

so i've spent the last couple of hours wandering around, and i've only seen a few faces i know. i'd like to know who some of you other guys/gals are?

i'm john, for starters.

[ACTION FOR THOSE IN / AROUND THE AREA OF LOKI.]

[If you're lucky enough to be around the area of the Loki district, John will be hanging around one of the areas in the district. He wants to meet everyone here too. So he's actively searching for people who actually have faces.

Anonymous faces are getting pretty old by now.

[Well. If this was some other kind of test from the gods, then Castle had passed with flying colors. He'd seen many things in Asgard, but he wasn't counting on finding a camel outside the House in Loki. The poor thing looked sorely out of place as it munched on the vines that had encompassed the city over the past few days. This was the clean up crew, perhaps? Castle wondered who was going to clean up after the clean up crew.

The camel made a gurgling noise when it saw Castle and he paused, staring it at for a moment. It had spit coming out of its mouth and was panting. Suddenly it dawned on Castle that the camel had nothing to drink. Wait, wasn't that what the hump was for? Regardless, he was feeling magnanimous and went back into the House to fill a bucket with water. He returned to the camel and placed the water in front of it, which it instantly started to lap up. A few moments later, Castle noticed a goblet sitting on the ground next to the camel. Curiously, he picked it up and sniffed the contents.

Castle later appeared on the feed with a smirk on his face, one hand on the camel's neck and the other holding a goblet of whiskey that kept refilling itself. The camel seemed to have taken to him after Castle had given it water and kept nudging his cheek with its nose. Castle lifted his goblet to toast the people of Asgard.]

Camel rides, anyone?

[She has something very important to discuss.]

Alright. I haven't been here long and I need to know about the people around me a little more. Let's see....

....Okay, I got it. Little sisters. What do you think about them? Cute, not cute? Don't you just want to hold them and.... and.... [she trails off a bit after saying that. She clears her throat, hiding that grin of hers before she goes back to glaring at the bracelet.]

Got it?! Let's just talk about little sisters!

Video;

[Spencer doesn't realize that he's accidentally hit the button on his bracelet as he is browsing the shelves in Odin's library. Because of this, the feed is rocky and shows a number of books, titles blurring as his hand moves across the shelves. Finally it stops, because Spencer has found the section that he's looking for. The titles show that he's in the medical section, looking at books on pathology and diagnosis. After choosing a few, the bracelet view turns to his feet and the marble floor as he walks across it to find an open table. Before he sits, he accidentally bumps his hand against one of the larger books and the feed cuts off.]

Action;

[Ever since the outbreak, Spencer's mind has been on that disease and how it had thrown everyone off. They had learned just enough to create a vaccine, but not enough to satisfy Spencer's curiosity. He needs to know more, in the hopes that they might be able to prevent this kind of biological warfare in the future. Though a genius, Spencer is not a medical doctor. Thus he needs to do research, which is something that he greatly enjoys. He opens up the larger book on pathology and starts to comb it for key phrases - anything that might have to do with the strange microorganisms that he saw under the microscope at Yakuzen.]

[Much like the first time that Alexis decided to address the network, she's sitting in the Odin library with her chin in her hands. She has a book sitting open in front of her, and this time it's a book about fire.

She's been thinking about her powers a lot lately, and although she doesn't like the idea of having to use them (if she gets to the point where she's good enough with her powers that she has to use them to fight... if that's really the direction the gods are taking, anyway), there is something to be said for learning how to defend herself a little better. At the very least, she's thinking about some self-defense lessons; that way, she can defend herself if she has to, and in the meantime, she'll think a little more about the issue of her powers.]

So, how's everyone doing? Did everyone recover all right?

[She pauses for a bit to gather her words, and then she adds:]

I'm thinking that it might be a good idea to get some self defense lessons. Who knows what's going to happen to us next? Everyone should know how to look after themselves in a fight. [She's mostly thinking aloud at this point. A few seconds go by, and then the feed ends.]

[The feed crackles up and into view. A girl is sitting on the floor of the Sigyn common area-- her legs look to be rather long, her hair is long and pink and flows nearly to the floor.

And she's... Naked.

A far cry from her first visit. She was granted clothing then. LUCKILY her hair seems to cover up anything.]

Um... [She's ducking behind the sweep of her bangs, blushing a little bit with her one visible eye big like a deer in the headlights.]

Am I...

Oh no, not again... B-But this all looks familiar-- [somebody wanders past and she squeaks, ducking down again in fear like a scared bunny. She musters the courage to speak up again to her bracelet.]

A-Asgard? Am-Am I back in Asgard? Really...? I didn't think it was possible but--!

Oh... Hello again, everypony. I'm... Fluttershy...

[She offers a small smile to the feed. SHE'S PRETTY COMFORTABLE DESPITE EVERYTHING. She's gotten used to not wearing clothing again. So. Have fun with that.]

[It's a peaceful morning, a little cloudy and brisk to match the new season. Autumn is off to a nice start!

That is, until a potentially familiar scaled personage swoops in. Without saying anything or starting any fights, he drops one strange canister each over Thor, Hel, and Freya districts and flies away. As the canisters land, they release clouds of rust-coloured smoke.

And then nothing happens. What could be going on...?]

So I need a volunteer, or a couple of them. [ Volunteers that don't have to all come at once. And if it sounds strange or out of the ordinary to anyone that Quinn's spoken to before she does actually have a reason. She's got a job, and with a job? Money. And with living in some strange city on limited clothes? She needs to go shopping. And with shopping she wants coffee. And to actually spend time with some of the friends she's made, hence this ]

Namely for coffee and shopping, or something else. I'd add film night on but I haven't seen a movie theatre on the map. [ Can they buy DVD's? They will see when they're out, anyway ]

And impending doom of all the talk about war aside, I'd actually like to be a teen first. [ Because she's still that, slightly more independent and freaked out too ] So shopping. Who's in?

[Alexis is sitting in the middle of the library, with a sizable stack of books sitting next to her. There's books about all kinds of things, from mythology and magic to history and philosophy. It's pretty clear that Alexis is in her happy place, though even this can't really replace what she left back home: that is, going to college and starting a new chapter of her life.

But as far as she is concerned, this could be worse. She has her dad, and he's got his friends (namely a certain detective), and at least they can be together.

After awhile of turning pages, Alexis closes the book she's reading and she stretches and yawns. A thought comes to her as she surveys the shelves upon shelves of books.]

Am I the only one here who actually misses school? [She knows she'll have to stop thinking about going to Columbia, at least for now. And maybe this will help her make new friends who think along the same lines that she does.]

[ River can be seen wandering around the common area of Odin's Welcome Hall almost as though in a trancelike state. Her steps are light and even, ball to toe on bare feet, and her fingers trail over every object she passes even though her eyes are wandering curiously around the ceiling and the walls and the rest of the room - never to what she's touching. It might seem like she's looking for something, or even listening for something, but she doesn't seem to find it, and never once ceases her calculated footsteps. Eventually the video times out. ]

[ Some time later, the video clicks back on and River's face fills the entire feed, far too close as she tries to peer into the little jewel of her bracelet. She eventually gives up and pulls back to show brown eyes wide and curious, dark hair framing pallid skin that's ... almost gold in the scant lighting.

She's sitting in the middle of the slide, feet tucked underneath her to stop her from going down any further. Her eyes skitter around the confined space before settling back on the bracelet. She says only two words as a whisper, like if she says it any louder, it might break the spell. ]

It's quiet.

[ ooc; for those of you in Odin, feel free to run into River in either part of the post - and I do mean literally, someone should run into her in the slide. 8) edit: I totally forgot! hover for Chinese translations! thanks to Holly for teaching me that trick and Google for my butchered Chinese. |Db ]

So the gods are mentioning war again. [ Or did about eleven days ago, but she's been thinking ] They mention war, we're supposed to help them.

[ She has a point here, and her point is something she's wondered almost since she's arrived - and hasn't done a thing about ] We have powers for this war, so has anyone actually used them?

[ She figures that people have, some have mentioned it before, but exactly how many? And what if you've never wanted it, or been interested in using it? In 'training' it? ] And what's happened?

[ And there's one reason why she hasn't wanted to use hers: they're supposed to grow. Telepathy is a pain in the butt as it is, just from the little she can use hers. But if it grows? She doesn't really want that. Knowing thoughts is not a good thing ]

1. MORNING, ACTION - EVERYWHERE

So Regina has slowly been noticing that things aren't quite the same as they used to be whenever she uses her power. In fact, today she's out buying a large quantity of ingredients at the store (with whatever money she has left over from fees from her various performances with Sinbad the lion) for a secret project she has going, and as a result, something very odd is happening all around Asgard.

A long line of besotted natives are trailing after her as she walks along - the line is impossible to miss, and whenever the effect wears off on one of them (she's not yet at level three!) and they go wandering off, another joins the queue right behind. Regina is letting them carry her stuff. She innocently sees nothing wrong with it, and will probably give anyone else who passes her a blast of level two Freya magic. And a hug.

For the love of god/s, someone stop her.

2. AFTERNOON, VIDEO/ACTION - FREYA HOUSE

Later on, a tearful face appears on the feed from the Freya Welcome House kitchens. Anyone in the area will probably notice the awful, cloying stink of burnt sugar in the air and general smoky atmosphere. ]

I...I tried to cook, I really did! Even with all the help I got out there! But it still...IT STILL DIDN'T WORK!!

[ Wailing, she presents a ruined pot filled with a gooey, unrecognisable brown substance. ]

You'll still like me, right Asgard? I didn't mean to. I just wanted to make some caramel apples for you all! Especially since the dark happened. Um...if anyone could teach me, I'd be sooooooooo happy.

[ She puts on her most winning, adorable smile. Her face is still a little red from her tears. ] Thanks! I know I can count on you...

Asgard, huh? Personally, I fell asleep in English when we had to do a section on mythology, but last I checked, gods don't really bring people to their special city, let alone to flourish in it. [ there's a pause here and erica honestly just looks really unimpressed, because really, she's supposed to believe this? she may be sitting around the baldr welcoming hall, but honestly this may just be one very vivid hallucination. in fact she'd kind of prefer that alternative. ] I can see why you'd want people like me here, but I just turned sixteen and I had plans at home that didn't really include this at all. In fact, they didn't include anything close to this.

[ and then there's another pause, and you can almost see how her face shifts briefly into someone who seems worried before she shrugs, fiddling with her bracelet. ]

I didn't really ask the maid- or whatever you want to call her- that gave us the bracelet and the letter and all those fun things, but trading in powers isn't an option, is it? [ because come on no this isn't fair, she doesn't even know how regeneration works in this place and if doesn't work like the bite she's screwed and she knows it. of course, no one really needs to know that here. if they know it right at the beginning, then they'll already be judging her for it and they'll worry that it'll happen or they'll wait until it happens so they can watch. ] Just for curiosity's sake, of course, it's not like I want to trade mine, because I didn't get that bad of a deal out of this, but maybe someone wants to be like they are at home instead of gifted with something new.

[ okay maybe she wants to be like she is at home, but you know, details that she can know and everyone else can figure out on their own. just let her speak in hypotheticals and such for now asgard. it's just better for right now. ]

05 September 2012 @ 10:12 pm
[The feed starts, and it's apparent that the woman who is wearing the bracelet has no idea that it's turned on. It's caught her in the middle of a string of mandarin - and her tone would very much make it seem as though she is less than happy and not really believing anything the letter had said.

Her gaze is flittering around, and she's muttering loud enough for others to hear over the device on her wrist.]

Tāmāde hùndàn! Malcolm Reynolds, I'm going to show you uncivilized if I find out you had anything to do with me being here.

[She glances down at the object around her wrist, and her eyebrows draw together. Though once she realizes that it might perhaps be broadcasting, she lifts it up so she's seen clearly - and in that few seconds of time, she's regained her composure and looks completely tranquil and at ease. Years of training were not going to go to waste, not even in this place.]

Bàoqiàn, I apologize, I didn't realize I'd managed to turn this on. I'm assuming it's a communication device? [She manages an easy and even charming smile.] Perhaps someone would be kind enough to tell me which planet I'm on and point me to the nearest city so I can contact my Guild, I would be most appreciative.

((OOC: Hover over the Chinese for translations!!))
