katniss everdeen.
[ The illnesses. Katniss tries to trace them back to anything in recent memory. They seemed to start all at once… She poured over the details repeatedly, glad for the lack of Rue and Annie in the vicinity, glad to not be worrying about anyone but herself for the time being. But it still worried her.

The disease reminds her of the things they endured in the Arena. The fog, how acidic it was. Yes, this reminded her of some trick of the Gamemakers. It was this conclusion that led her to a dangerous realization, and she scrambled to turn on her bracelet.

The face that meets the network is almost frantic. Her eyes are a bit sunken from lack of sleep. She isn't one of the Wave 1 patients; her symptoms haven't yet begun to form… But she knows people are panicking, and she herself is having some pretty gruesome flashbacks to her kitchen table at home. She wishes Prim or her mother were here. They would know what to do. As it is, she's trying to get the information she thinks she's discovered to the masses before it's too late. Not that it isn't already too late. She remembers what it took to stop the worsening wounds from the acid fog, and as far as she knows, the lake isn't salt water.
]

The canisters! [ It's almost a shout at first, before she composes herself. Steely and strong like a statue. ] The disease came from what the dragon dropped.

[ She might sound insane, and she realizes it… So she decides to explain. Katniss leans forward and exposes the strange patches in her hair that are damaged and bare, from the acid fog. ] This came from something similar. The place I'm from, the government runs a fight to the death between kids from the different districts in our country, called the Hunger Games. You're pitted against twenty-three other kids… But there's more than just that. [ She swallows a little, steadying herself. The faces of people she had to kill, people she watched die, are flashing through her head… But she has to get through this, because she needs to be heard. ]

In the Games, the Gamemakers would put things -- awful things -- into the arena to attack the tributes. Fireballs, or – or sometimes things in the environment that were out of place… To make us sick, or hurt us, or kill us… I think the canisters are the source of the epidemic. It's just like in the Games. The timing is close enough to everyone getting sick… That's what it has to be. [ There's a sense of resolve as instinct kicks in. Survive. Do what we have to in order to survive. ] Nothing else makes sense.

If you aren't part of the effort to heal the sick, you should stay in safe areas where the disease hasn't reached yet. We don't know what else it might do, or how it might keep spreading. There's no telling how far this might spread, but if it's contained, we might have a better chance of making it through this.

[ the bracelet feed clicks on to Hilda (as it should), but anyone who knows her or has even just talked to her once will know that something isn't right. aside from the surgical mask she has around her nose and mouth, her usual bright blue eyes that are filled with pep look much more downcast and tired. her brow is furrowed in worry, and she's not making much of an attempt to hide it from the network. ]

I know it's probably too early for it, and a lot of people are in the hospital and clinic trying to get better... but has anyone started to work on a cure for this yet? My healing powers are pretty strong, but they still aren't doi-

[ she's cut off by a weak rumbling noise coming from off screen. it's definitely something living, and whatever it is, it's in pain. she turns the camera away for a moment, only showing her boots and a strange patch of white feathers, though the audio still remains: ] I know... It hurts a lot. Just hang in there, I promise I'll find a way to make you better.

[ and back to the feed. now she just looks distressed and just a bit panicked. ] Um... yeah. My powers aren't doing anything, no matter how hard I try. The hospital isn't really an option, because... the thing that's sick isn't human. But if anyone knows about any sort of medicine that might help, tell me! Even if it only works on people! Since-

I think I'm running out of time.

[ just the thought makes her go pale, but she turns off the feed before anything else happens. ]

Stiles Stilinski
23 September 2012 @ 10:45 am
[And here is your weekly Stiles post Asgard. Except he looks quite ...disgusting. His throat is raw and it makes his voice sound all Batman-y. If he wasn't pale enough already he certainly is now, the fever is taking it's tole on him and he can't exactly do anything to fix that except wrap himself up and hope the heat breaks his fever.

That's how he remembers it working. At any rate he looks very contemplative as he sits there trying not to cough. He's making this video for a reason damnit.]

Did anyone stop to think that maybe the weird sickness running around might be from that freaky dragon and his eggs of doom?

I mean - the canisters. I would have already thought they were suspicious if they hadn't released some kind of toxin in the air but hey, they just made my job a thousand times easier.

Just try to avoid other people if you're sick, okay people? We have no idea if this is jumping from human to human or what and ... people are dying. This is all kinds of fucked.

[It looks like he's reaching to turn off the video since this is about as much talking as he can do before he feels like he'll pass out. But a coughing fit stops him and when he takes his hand back from his mouth -- there's blood on it.]

Aw, shit...

[The feed turns off in a hurry. He really hopes no one saw that.]

There's -

[ A cough. Not what he'd intending. One day, Arthur will appear before the city without looking horrible, I promise. Today is not that day, though he's looking considerably better than any that might've caught sight of him the day before or earlier this morning. Still pale and flushed, voice rough with soreness, but Arthur's a fighter through and through.

He's on the mend. He got better. ]

There's a cure - a treatment, rather. Both Dr Watson's clinic and the hospital have been working together to produce it; what we need now is to see it brought to those afflicted.

I have already asked much of you, and I fear I will do so again before this is through, but you are needed once more, Asgard. I ask any well enough to travel to meet me outside of the hospital. We must move swiftly, before it is too late.

[ A beat, and he looks at something just beyond the camera's feed for a brief moment. ]

It may also be - wise - to come armed, if you have them. While there's no immediate danger, we will always be met with conflict in a time of crisis. We have stood strong through every other; this one will be no different. Let Muspellheim know their petty tricks will not defeat us.

[ Or something like that. He has to stop and inhale deeply, try to steel himself. ]

For those of you that will join me, we depart within the hour.

[ ooc; this is the position three milestone post! the distribution log is ready and waiting for you over here, and it has handy dandy links to all of the other relevant posts for this plot!

for those of you that saw my ooc post (turned recruitment post awwyis) RE: building a formal army, this would be a good "in" for Arthur involving y'all in this DIY home project! but also not necessary. do whatcha do, asgard. ♥ ]

Eridan Ampora
23 September 2012 @ 06:37 pm
[Eridan had been wandering aimlessly through Hel district after another day of absolutely worthless job searching. The acrid purple smoke he had inhaled while passing through the streets was dismissed as some sort of strange pollution. And it wasn't until he began coughing that night, his skin flushed and damp with sweat, that he began to worry.

The announcements over the network to report to the "hospital" had only worried him further.  Willingly gathering all the weak in one central area? It just didn't settle well on his already upset stomach. Even if there weren't Imperial Drones here ready to cull him for the slightest weakness, handing himself over to someone's care when he was at his weakest was something he was just not prepared to do.And so he had barricaded his room, turning the lock and dragging the heavy dresser in front of the door. He didn't trust anyone in this city further than he could throw them, and he was fairly sure that wouldn't be very far considering he was too weak to raise his arms, let alone get out of bed.

The video shows him lying in bed in his room in Baldr's welcome hall, propped up against the headboard with pillows. He is missing his trademark cape and scarf. The reason is apparent as the gills on either side of his neck flutter with each quick, rasping breath that he sucks in between coughing fits that leave him weaker and weaker.]

So. This vaccine.

Wwhen exactly wwill it be made avvailable? An' howw much is it goin' to cost to get it delivvered?

[In his experience, everything has a price.]

ɢʏᴍ ʟᴇᴀᴅᴇʀ ᴊᴀsᴍɪɴᴇ
23 September 2012 @ 06:52 pm
[ It's afternoon, Day 148, and people are dying.

Jasmine looks harried, eyes ringed with purple bags. One is bruised and blackened from a rock a native threw. But as she addresses the network from the quietest corner of the Yakuzen Clinic, she takes on the most authoritative, focused air she can muster and talks calmly and concisely, though not without obvious concern. ]

Asgard, regarding this illness. You've heard already it was from the canisters, but we can dwell on the motive later...what's important now is curing it.

We've been studying the patients' blood along with anything else that could help, and have started developing an immunisation. It should be ready later this evening, if all goes well, and enough patients begin recovering safely...

[ She looks down and up again, drawing in breath behind clenched teeth. She coughs once. ] I will not lie to you...this illness can be fatal. But if one gets through the worst stages they may yet live. This is why distributing this immunisation will be so vital. Quick treatment is needed!

Anyone with any transport at all, can you be counted upon to help distribute this to the travellers? I may have to go out myself...

And, uhm, please, if you feel any of these symptoms: a severe cough that may contain blood, dizziness, fever, nausea, a burn-like rash, or internal burning sensations, get to the hospital or clinic immediately. [ She stares for a while, very firm on that point. ]

I'll be here to answer any questions while Dr. Watson and the others work on healing and finishing up the immunisation.

[ Jasmine coughs again, and covers her mouth, obscuring the screen slightly. She looks at her hand. There's a trickle of scarlet. Her eyes widen and the broadcast ends. ]

(( ooc: this is the position two milestone post! ))

Sora
[For once, Sora is using the text function only. Between the worsened symptoms and his lack of energy, he wouldn't be able to handle a voice or a video post.]

Don't worry! Everything will be okay. We'll pull through. We always do!

[He's honestly trying to raise people's spirits. Whether it works or not is up to them, but he feels he has to do something. Raise morale in some way even if it's through something as small as this.]

We made it this far, right? There's no way this will stop us.

Jonathan Mal / Jonah
23 September 2012 @ 10:49 pm
[The feed cuts in and the first thing you'll see isn't Jonah himself, but instead the pistol he's holding in his hands, as he's pulling the slide to chamber a round. Fresh magazine and all. Best not to ask why he's loaded a fresh mag, either.]

[The view suddenly shifts as he brings his wrist up so his head fills most of the display. He's wearing what looks to be a medical grade respirator and a pair of goggles. It's easy to recognize that it's him, due to his silver hair and red eyes. It should be noted that the stock of an AK-74 is looking ominously over his right shoulder, and he looks to be wearing a harness of some sort.]

I've got a few more of these masks, if anyone that's still healthy wants one. I also saw people talking about a cure being made, so I offered to help deliver that once it's done.

[A pause.]

I can protect people too, if somebody wants.
