While there are many myths throughout my life I have found to have a root in truth, I had not expected Asgard to be a place I would ever visit. Being fresh from my home world, I long to return. From what I've been lead to understand, frequent and consistent social interaction is the most basic of ways to ensure that happens. And so I reach out to you, fellow victims.
I have read some of what's available to view on this network. It seems as though possessions occurred recently, and a grave tragedy was involved. I would like to offer my condolences to the respective parties. And while I understand the need to focus on lighter things in the wake of such tragedy, it disturbs me greatly to know that this Thiazi is capable of such things while all of our native powers have been replaced. How are we to defend ourselves against an assault on the mind stripped of the very capabilities needed to do so?
I understand this is not a choice for Asgard's gods, but I challenge them: you are the ones who brought us in; you are the reason we are here. How do you plan to defend us against further assault? We are a precious resource to you. Surely, we are worth defending. Surely, we are worth taking action for instead of simply waiting for reaction to be necessary, and then stepping in. Surely, you have a plan.

He can't, of course, tell that Voldemort is younger. That much is not obvious.]
What do you know of condolences?
text.
He recognizes the name, of course, from earlier posts that he has read. He recognizes this boy as the one to start an owlery, so clearly inspired through Wizarding World influence. He knows this person is a wizard, and in fact, even liked some of what this boy was saying. The reaction this boy is giving him, however, is enough to make him curious.]
Enough.
[A pause, as if considering, and then:]
Do you know me?

irony is more common in this city than disasters.

That is unfortunate. I confess myself disappointed if it proves to be true, though I will allow them a chance to answer mine as I have only arrived.

We do as much as we can, and look endlessly for ways to do more. We shield your physical bodies here from the illnesses of this world - the gray and otherwise - and your souls and minds from the flood of magic that would drive you utterly mad in an instant. We shield you from this, and from the elements, provide food and money for spending.
[ He only hesitates for a moment, before continuing: ]
It's not much. It's not enough, and we know that. It grieves me every day that we cannot do more, but keeping you as safe as we have is harder than most will ever let you know.

For obvious reasons, he'll stick with text.]
So all of your energy is spent on the most basic of necessities we take for granted. Therefore, anything more than that is out of your power level.
[Basically, they're no less better off than those drawn in, and it aggravates Voldemort. It angers him that in this realm, the only power is that of the ice witch intended on doing them harm. It's at this point he decides he must learn more about her, must seek out power of his own however he may have to get it.]
I would thank you for taking the time to answer.

Magic, as it happens. Magic most powerful, in fact, and I feel the loss of it greatly.

[ Alright, so maybe that's her go-to story for insisting that Growth is an awesome power now. ]

That is certainly something, but what of those without offensive powers? How many guys would you be able to punch with trees should your comrades be in danger?

About the gods...they are looking out for us. At least, some of them are. They might not always be able to prevent Thiazi's attacks from getting through, but they use much of their energy to revive us if we fall. I think that's worth something, even if I don't completely trust them.
[Text]
They need us. They've said as much, so of course they would be hospitable in the ways they are able.
Though, I wonder: how long have you been here? I am curious as to how long this has been going on.

As has been pointed out to me, indeed. They'll leave it up to us to make up for their lack. In that case, it would be in our best interest to organize.

[text] watch snape's brain explode
And so, with apprehension wringing his gut and his chest in ugly, anxiety-filled knots, Severus trawls the network for evidence of the Dark Lord's presence.
And here the evidence lies. Lord Voldemort, reads the name. Colour drains from Severus' face. His blood feels like it's evaporating in his veins from shock and unease. With any luck, the Dark Lord won't know who Severus is. That, Severus thinks, is his only hope.
Unfortunately, however, Severus mostly agrees with what the Dark Lord is saying. And wasn't that the thing that got him into the mess of being involved with the Death Eaters and with the Dark Lord's regime: agreeing with him? Being easily influenced by him? Manipulated by him?
He reads and rereads the text message, disgust coiling hotter and hotter within him. How manipulative the Dark Lord is; how smooth he is with words; how he's able to weave an argument together in ways that render a person incapable of arguing against him.
And the fact that the Dark Lord is referring to the tragedy that was eerily reminiscent to that of the deaths he exacted on Lily and Potter all those years ago sets Severus' teeth right on edge.
Merlin. Severus thought he was finally - finally - free from the Dark Lord. Asgard is the one place where Severus thought himself safe from the Dark Lord. The very same Dark Lord who had set Nagini on him, whose fangs had ripped a chunk out of the side of his neck, out of his jugular vein. The very same Dark Lord who had killed Severus in cold blood, for his own gain. For the erroneous belief that he was the master of the Elder Wand.
Severus sees Harry Potter's response to him - What do you know of condolences? - and, for once, Severus agrees with Potter: what in Merlin's name would the Dark Lord know of condolences? Condolences are only ever empty words when spoken by the Dark Lord. Empty, meaningless, calculating words. What would the Dark Lord know of tragedies?]
These are questions many of us have asked, to little avail.
[His hands are shaking while he's typing the message.]
The question I have to ask is: what are you planning to do about what you can't control?
[text] oh very good severus
I'm afraid you'll have to be more specific. What do you mean, what I can't control?

But I have heard many demand answers from the gods regarding matters you spoke of, perhaps you would be better served to speak with them in private and in person?
[Text]
And you are kind to say so. As I was not present, it is the least I can do.
You are right, of course. A private conversation would perhaps be better in which to discuss this matter in detail. However, I have gained the answers I've thus far asked for, and so such measures are no longer required.

Actually, I wonder that a lot.
[Text]
You would be correct in doing so, and wise to give the situation a more appropriate amount of forethought. It seems as though they have nothing aside from us to put to the table, as you said, and so we must rise to the occasion if we are to get what we want out of this situation.

fellow victims = dubious, perhaps only in a general sense
How are we to defend... = you're not the first to suggest it, however, much of what is here for defense is not aimed for mental training, but rather, more of the physical sense.
Other than issue a challenge, which you can't really do unless you've got something to offer for yourself, all of this is just small talk.
text
Clever, aren't you?
You're right. I have little to offer as of yet. That, however, will change in the coming days.
