While there are many myths throughout my life I have found to have a root in truth, I had not expected Asgard to be a place I would ever visit. Being fresh from my home world, I long to return. From what I've been lead to understand, frequent and consistent social interaction is the most basic of ways to ensure that happens. And so I reach out to you, fellow victims.

I have read some of what's available to view on this network. It seems as though possessions occurred recently, and a grave tragedy was involved. I would like to offer my condolences to the respective parties. And while I understand the need to focus on lighter things in the wake of such tragedy, it disturbs me greatly to know that this Thiazi is capable of such things while all of our native powers have been replaced. How are we to defend ourselves against an assault on the mind stripped of the very capabilities needed to do so?

I understand this is not a choice for Asgard's gods, but I challenge them: you are the ones who brought us in; you are the reason we are here. How do you plan to defend us against further assault? We are a precious resource to you. Surely, we are worth defending. Surely, we are worth taking action for instead of simply waiting for reaction to be necessary, and then stepping in. Surely, you have a plan.

[The Dark Lord doesn't acknowledge him. Does this mean the Dark Lord doesn't recognise his name? Severus can only hope.]

You can try to reason with the gods all you like but it will prove fruitless. You can lament for your lost powers all you like but it will prove futile. Nothing is within your control here. Nothing, that is, except for the power with which you were assigned.

[Severus in no way underestimates what the Dark Lord is capable of. Oh, he knows only too well what he's capable of. As for projecting... Well, perhaps there's an element of truth to that.

Be careful, he scolds himself as he types a reply, his hands still trembling.]

I assure you, I am neither projecting nor underestimating. Merely informing.

I've no doubt you're aware of your own capabilities. I was not suggesting that you aren't. Rather, I was speaking in terms of your native powers being rendered obsolete.
Which brings me back to my question: being you are, as you say, aware of your capabilities, what do you plan to do in light of the gods ignoring your challenge? Which I can assure you they will.

[Severus had dearly hoped the Dark Lord wouldn't switch this conversation to private. Not only for his own sense of self-preservation, but for the benefit of Asgard; so that they might be subtly made aware of how dangerous the Dark Lord is. And of course, now that the Dark has switched it private, Severus can't very well switch it back to public consumption.

He has, however, managed to steel himself somewhat. His hands are still trembling slightly, but he's managed to force his apprehension and disquietude mostly back beneath the surface. For now.

Perhaps, he realises, as he scrambles for what to reply to the Dark Lord, that the best way to handle this is to appeal to the Dark Lord's ego. Have him believe that Severus' interest is for the Dark Lord's benefit. That way, he thinks, he'll be able to keep close watch on his movements. Inform others of his plans.

Merlin, he doesn't want to operate in a covert and clandestine manner anymore. All of that is behind him now. Yet... He knows the Dark Lord better than anyone, next to Potter. The Dark Lord cannot, after all, be allowed to simply roam free and unwatched in Asgard.]

I myself am frustrated with the gods', shall we say, lack of candour and willingness to serve the people of Asgard. I inquire about your plans because you speak with principle and conviction, something the gods of Asgard sorely lack.

[While Severus may not to be glad that the Dark Lord had switched the conversation to private, he's glad it's not via video feed. Or even audio feed. He swallows thickly at the statement, the Dark Lord will always get what he wants.]

Flattery would be disingenuous praise. It's clear as day how little conviction and principle the gods choose to operate with. As you mentioned, the gods brought us here, yet they are unwilling to act in our defense when disaster strikes.
