Excuse me.

[The voice is somewhat quiet, apologetic and soft-spoken. That should be the first sign he's changed; that is not a normal tone of voice for this man to take. It had happened once before, though not for very long, and it ended up leaving him in an even worse temper than he had previously. It seems the gods decided to try again ~~and to perhaps not ruin the holiday season for anyone who tries to deal with him on a regular basis~~.]

I apologize for the disturbance, but I wish to request some information. In an...effort to better understand the people of this land.

[An awkward pause, as if something just occured to him.] Of course, you are under no obligation to answer me; please don't feel as if you must.

I have seen people here mention certain festivals and holidays taking place around the winter season. Considering the...recent decorations, they seem to be commonplace no matter the other differences in a person's homeland.

We have similar myths and legends where I come from, though I had not taken part in any sort of celebration. [Silvites are too clinical to celebrate something as frivolous as winter solstice, but that's neither here nor there.]

If you should consent to answer, then please tell me; what do you celebrate in your land? Is there any particular history associated with it?

It could be anything; not...just winter festivals. I merely want a basis for comparison.

[He says that with an air of finality. There's a bodily shift and a far-away sigh as it goes silent, all before it abruptly turns back on and another statement is added in a hurried sort of breathlessness, as if he just remembered to add something important.]

[ Fina's actually not sure how to react. There are signs there that tell her that this isn't the normal Ramirez. And yet ... in her world, Ramirez isn't alive anymore. Part of her wants to talk to him, despite how dissimilar this Ramirez's tone is to the Ramirez she had come to know back in Arcadia.

This results in her being very quiet for several moments, as she starts the audio feed ... but she does eventually speak, albeit very quietly. ]

I'm certain you already know what I would say.

[ He had said it himself, after all ... though she expected she would be joining in celebrations with Vyse and Aika back in Arcadia this year, had she stayed. ]

[It takes his a moment to place her voice. The tone and soft speech was familiar, but she wasn't a child anymore. She wasn't the young girl he remembered, and as such, it takes him a moment to remember her voice, recall the reason why she was speaking to him with such familiar tones.

It hits him all in a rush. He had known she was here; if nothing else, he keeps track of who stays and goes in Asgard. But what do you say to

[He is speaking of specifically in their time in Asgard, but this is an apology that could be taken in many ways.]

[Oh, that mysterious person again! The last time she talked to him, she vaguely remembers he had been kind of colder, but... Maybe it was an aftereffect of the war? She hadn't been feeling too good either at that time, after all.]

Umm... We usually give gifts to people who are important to us.

[They are never going to exchange names, are they.

[This wasn't the normal Ramirez he was used to the times they spoke before, was this the moment Vyse spoke to him about before? Where the gods had changed Ramirez into someone much nicer? Although a part of him worries, another wishes he should speak to Ramirez. Setting aside his fear, he answers.]

[Should Ramirez remember how much he had previously despised Enrique in this setting, it doesn't show on his face. Aside from a vague look of unease, at least, but it soon fades from his face and he shakes his head slightly.]

Please, your Highness, I have done nothing worthy of the title of Admiral. Please don't feel as though you must address me as such.

[He pauses momentarily, reflecting on Ramirez's words and expressions. It's very obvious this Ramirez is different from the one he met upon his arrival. His tone now is softer, less full of fear and more full of compassion and kindness.]

Oh no, you are more than deserving of that title. Please trust my words, I know a good soldier of my country and you've been nothing but loyal to Valua.

[And just to make it more obvious, he sits there and smiles at Enrique. Not a smirk- a real smile that, though probably somewhat nervous and awkward, was probably full of more warmth than he had previously shown himself capable of.]

[He sees that smiles and exchanges one of his own for Ramirez to see, enjoying this very pleasant conversation between them. However, he has some questions that need answers and some points that need to made.]

You may find it strange to hear though please try to understand. This place seems to take others from different points in time, as I am from a time where you have been appointed Admiral by my mother the Empress herself. Prior to this, you were Admiral Galcian's Vice Captain.

[He thinks again to how Ramirez is in his time point and how drastically different he is from now. But that does not stop him.]

[There's a shift. All the good humor drains from his face once he hears that; he stiffens at the mention of Lord Galcian's name and his eyes grow wide and round in unflattering disbelief.

He can only sputter uselessly for a moment before actual words come out.]

[There's shock in his voice, but, under that and perhaps more telling, there's pure disgust. However, he seems to catch himself somewhat, and shrinks from the feed, looking down apologetically. Even so, this news clearly made him ill at ease.]

I...apologize. I spoke out of turn. [Something he was prone to doing in his youth, Galcian could tell you that much should he deign to answer. Ramirez is not a hardened soldier anymore; he's a young man that has not learned how to temper his passion and fire.]

[This is, in fact, a vast oversimplification of what exactly he remembered before arriving here. What he actually remembers was being seconds away from attempting to rip Galcian's face off until receiving such a hardcore verbal beatdown it left him nearly paralyzed.

Sort of makes learning he works under him in the future a bit hard to swallow.]

[Through the feed he's able to see everything upon Ramirez's face, feeling half guilty knowing these facts of the future. Perhaps this the chance the gods are giving him so they can make amends for everything. Yes, this has to be it.]

You have nothing to apologize for, Ramirez. I know this must be hard to hear and understand, because... I've heard about you from Fina briefly. Prior to becoming Admiral Galcian's Vice Captain, she knew you as you are now. Part of me wishes back then, I had been given the chance to speak with you properly. However since a chance has been given to me now, I wish to ask if I may be able to meet with you.

[He pauses briefly, then gives Ramirez a gentle smile.]

I'm not human, but I can tell you about all their celebrations. What are you comparing?

[Not human? Well, he looked human enough. But other than a sort of uneasy confusion in his face, Ramirez doesn't press the issue.]

It's nothing on a particularly grand scale. Worlds here more often than not seem to have some similarities. [He's noticed as much, even with Arcadia's own history in comparison to another planet called Earth.] Since people are now speaking of their what they do in the season, I thought I would ask for further clarification on that particular subject.

I celebrate Christmas back home, in the winter, but there's other holidays, too. The other big one is Hanukkah.

A bit of both, I suppose. What we have isn't...exactly the same, from what I can gather, but there are similar connotations. [The similar history is rather interesting, given that Arcadia is a bit...different, in some other respects.]

I don't really know too much about it because I don't celebrate it myself, but I know that it lasts for eight days. There's a thing called a menorah involved - it's a nine tiered candle holder that you light each night, I believe - and I think people give small gifts each night of it, traditionally. [ She pauses for a moment and tries to remember what else she knows about it. ] I don't really remember what it started for, though.
