I need pet suggestions that aren't 'cat' or 'dog.' Preferably not 'horse,' either.

[Because, to be honest, it's been more than a century since he had anything resembling a pet himself and it was a horse. Somehow, he doubts a horse would fit in Jacob's room, though.]

I once met a lady in my court that kept a rabbit as a pet.

That's an idea. Although, I suppose people often keep rabbits as pets, so I don't know if that would be too traditional or not.
