003 - Audio
[Samantha opted, when setting up the feed, to go with voice only. She still looked like hell, and she didn't need anyone seeing or asking stupid questions. It wasn't their business. But, after speaking to Conan, she'd resolved that it was time to stop trying to hide from this place any further. When she spoke, her voice had a tired quality to it, but was still strong.]
So, Asgard.
I wanted to discuss something with those of you who will still speak with me right now. These powers that we have. Most of the people I see seem to think of them as a good thing, a blessing of sorts, or at least they partially make up for the tricks you had in your homeworlds. Right.
Here's the thing I wanted to talk about. Most I've spoken to seem to think of these powers as something that's being used to help other people around here, or to protect people that can't protect themselves. How do you people handle the fact that any of them can be abused, misused or mishandled? What do people around here do to prepare themselves to be protected if those powers get used for the wrong reasons? I've been thinking a lot lately about how people could protect themselves from some of these powers, and it worries me.
Not all of us are nice people, you know.

This is a bit less vague. I'm fine to work right now, so that's all that matters to me. The rest will heal on its own. It's a reminder to me that I have to watch my weaknesses so they don't hurt others again as much.

Yowza. That's - actually what I meant. I know what it looks like now, sure, but... I don't know how it got there or any of what you're referring to. [ a neutral smile ] You're still being vague.

Alive, yeah, that's definitely the case. Death's not really a way to stop me. Never has been.

No offense, Sam, but the stuff you aren't saying is telling me a lot more than the stuff you are.

I find that's true of most people. I think you're trying to unwrap the whole package a week before Christmas, honestly. You want the life's story of a stranger you've barely met, and you think they're going to tell you? You might have caught on that I'm not the most trusting of people.
And I'm not immortal. However, since you're so very curious, what is it, exactly, that you want to know? I might answer more clearly, but I think we're both going to get a little tired of you trying to fill in the blanks each time I speak.
[It was a subtle distinction, but dying and coming back from the dead wasn't the same as always coming back from the dead. Samantha didn't want to be immortal, after all.]

I wasn't trying to provoke you, Sam. I just thought you should know what I know so far. About... you. Because— Well— If you're trying to keep people safe by keeping them away? You should probably just not give so much away at all. That only makes them more interested.
So if you want me to fill in the blanks myself I can do that. I don't really have the right to ask questions, I know. But...really? Maybe being honest would just be better. You don't have to tell anyone your life story. But telling them what you are lets them make their own decisions about how to act. And if they have no idea what to expect aren't they worse off anyway?
— Besides, everyone is immortal here so what you were back home is kinda irrelevant in that regard.

Because that side exists, my demon side is more than happy to abuse my powers, something I find very unpleasant.
[She sighed, rubbing her forehead.]
It's not that I'm trying to be dishonest, but I don't really like talking about the monster inside of me, however recently it came out.
