[She clearly has no idea what she's doing. For starters, the video is just of the wall to begin with. Mostly she's just hit buttons until something seemed to happen.]
Is this...? Oh dear, this is so dreadfully confusing. Well...
[Finally she comes into view, curls all arranged perfectly despite her absence of maids to attend her, or near enough. Admittedly, her hat is hiding most of it, but that was the novelty of such a large hat, and she was glad she had them, because doing her hair was going to become... difficult. Almost as difficult as lacing up her corset by herself.
She's also sitting on the stairs of the Welcome Hall, and somewhere between a frown and a pout on her face. She was doing alright with being here, some part of her was even excited... but... well she couldn't go out through the water. It would ruin her dress, and on top of everything else, she disliked feeling trapped, even if she was used to it.]
I'm told that others can see this? I'm a little confused but... does anyone know how to leave the buildings without... well, getting damp?
[She leans on her hand, sighing a little, just a bit bored too.]

I'm told that others can see this? I'm a little confused but... does anyone know how to leave the buildings without... well, getting damp?

action;
"I understand.. ah.. take as much time as you need."
action; /handwaving is my friend.
And off she went, and she really did try to be quick. In part because if he was waiting, and because if she stopped to think about it, she'd be too mortified to leave her room. At least she still had her corset on. She didn't want to go with out that. Perhaps it was for the best that all of this was all... without a great deal of style like she was used to, she could hide in it almost.
So eventually she appeared again. She still had her hat on. Silly as that was, she had to have something, and it did serve a purpose at least. Though she was holding herself stiff as she tugged at her shirt, like it would magically turn into a dress if she kept trying. "I-is this alright?"
action;
"It's lovely. I'm glad Beckett's clothes fit you."
He offered her his arm.
action;
Georgiana took his arm, glaring at the water before she stepped into it. "Well, where do you suggest sir? Everything is a marvel to me here. I'm told I am completely out of time here. It was the 1700s where I am taken from."
action;
He led her slowly through the water. It made perfect sense that she was from the 1700s, based on her clothing.
"I'm from 2012."
action;
"Is it very nice in at that time?" She watched the floor under the water, well, she supposed if it came from a river, it would be more muddy, as rivers usually were.
action;
"It's a great time, thanks to the combustion engine and electricity, both of which were discovered over a century ago. But those two things made possible much of which we have in my time."
He glanced at her, taking her in. Lady Cavendish was even more beautiful in person.
"I kind of always wanted to go to court in the 1700s though. Court means something different in my time. Generally it's not a place you want to go."
action;
Georgiana smiled at him, caught between looking at him, and looking at the things around her.
"Oh, it's very grand. I suppose you mean law courts though? I hope you have not had too many dealings with that." She grinned. "No, it's... oh, very bright. I don't know how people are now enough to know how it is different to your social circles."
action;
"Yes, those are the only kind of courts we have in my time. I live in the New World."
Depending on what year she was from "America" either meant nothing or was a huge fuss.
Those type of things were hard to explain for someone who didn't have a scientific background, but he figured he had to try.
"A combustion engine uses... gasoline and heat.. I think, in order to make it run. You can use it to create energy. Similarly, electricity creates energy too, but it's like...... you've seen lightning before, right?"
action;
"... Oh, is that how the lights work. I could not understand how people just turned them on with a switch..." She looked up then, pausing to stare at them again. "They're very grand aren't they? It reminds me of our estates in Bath, quite a bit."
action;
And vastly different from Europe. Like most Americans, Castle was proud of his country, though he did enjoy traveling through Europe.
"It's kind of like lightning, yes. Do you have electric lights back home?"
He couldn't exactly remember when electricity made its major debut, but it seemed like some time in the late 1800s.
action;
At his question she shook her head, looking back at him. "No, not all. Just candles really." Hadn't even really been thought of just yet, not in the popular mind. "Is it not very dangerous, given how lightning can destroy? Start fires and such?"
action;
Castle was surprised to hear that from an Englishwoman of her time. She must have been a freethinker, which was a nice addition to her hotness.
"It's very controlled and there are safety measures in place. It's generally safe but people can start fires if they're not careful."
He smiled. Enough about lightbulbs.
"But let's talk about you. Where in England are you from?"
action;
She laughed a little. "Not much to tell, really. And near London is where our main estates are. But we have them in Bath and Ireland as well. They look a bit like this, really." So it wasn't too foreign, which she was grateful for.
action;
He gave her a playful smile.
"I've been to Bath, really enjoyed it. It's like going to Rome and England at the same time."
action;
"I've heard Rome is lovely in the summer, if hot." And apparently the fashion there was different too, and she just sighed for the thought of it. "You sound very widely travelled, my lord Castle."
action;
"I'm a popular novelist back home. Fortunately that affords me a certain lifestyle where travel is possible. Plus I travel for work or research as well."
action;
[ooc// dunno how this is relevant, and it never comes up in the movie, but she's written a book as well... which is basically about how much it sucks to be a woman, lmao :|]
action;
As he always said, his profession allowed him to come up with various ways to kill people - something only psychopaths also did, although Castle got paid for it.
"I like to do research with real life law enforcement so I can bring an authenticity to my characters."
[ooc - It probably did suck to be a woman back then. :(]
action;
"... Law enforcement? Like magistrates and such?" That was as far as she understood it went, and the men that worked for them.
[ooc// It did for her. She'll tell him about it later sometime sob, 'cause she wrote it when she was about 20. Most disillusioned 20 year old...]
action;
Castle was a fairly decent businessman. He knew how to keep people wanting more at least.
"The police. I've been granted special permission to assist them in New York. I help them out with their cases, they give me some real world police experiences. In fact, the lady whose clothes those belong to is one of them."
action;
She didn't know what police were, but she could sort of guess, and at his words, she looks back down at herself. "Oh, really? She must be the most remarkable of women..." but... if it meant investigating murders and crime... "they let a woman hold such a position?" he had her complete attention then, staring at him intently, wanting to know more.
action;
"She's... an extraordinary woman. And yes, women in my time have more freedom to work if they so wish. Actually, you're hard pressed to find a woman that doesn't work in one capacity or another. Beckett is the best cop at the precinct. You should see how the men scurry out of her way when she's coming."
Is his face glowing a little when he talks about her? He hopes it's not.
action;
"To work? Really?" Her minds just filled with possibilities, and she's reminded of the conversations she'd had with her husband. "She sounds marvellous, I should like to meet her one day, if you feel like arranging a introduction." Of course men would be intimidated of such a woman, and privately she wished she had that kind of power.
... Oh but it is glowing, not that she'd say anything, it was cruel when people fiddled with such emotional things.
action;
Yes, one minute glowing about Beckett, the next flirting with another woman. The case of a man in love but confused about it.
