I've got a question for the people-countries here. Or the country-people. Is there something you prefer to be called? I don't want to be rude, but I still don't really understand everything about it yet.

[An urgent look.]

But Spain said that sometimes, when a country is gone, the person just disappears! Is that true? Is it like dying, or do they go somewhere else? It doesn't seem right, for a person to just disappear into thin air after existing. I mean, I know no one lasts forever, but that's different from going 'poof.'

If you could answer me, I'd really appreciate it. I want to understand more about this.

And do any of you know Japan? What's he like?

I can be a lot of things when I want to be.

I'll remember that. [Her smile softening into something more sincere.] I should just have said thank you. I'm still learning to accept compliments.

People say "Just say thank you," but it doesn't seem like enough, does it? Especially when you still have so much trouble believing it...

Once you can see the good things about yourself, you can be confident... and then you can do whatever you dream about and no one can stop you. [It's strongly reminiscent of her conversation with Tavros, and that makes her smile widen.] Because with confidence, no one else's opinion matters.

You can be confident and not be a good person, sure. You just believe that everything you do and say is right. But that's different than really doing the right thing and being strong.

I don't think you have to worry about that, though. [Kindly.] You can be confident, and you're already good.

[ That gets a laugh as Rapunzel shakes her head. ]

I don't mean good good. I mean...without there - you know, being anything valuable about me. Aside from my hair of course. You know. Worth something?

Who told you that you weren't worth anything?

Well, it's not true. Everyone is worth something. Everyone.

Oh. I know. [ And out of instinct her fingers go to her hair. ] Not everyone has seventy feet of hair.

Well, that's... something, alright... but it's not all that gives you worth. You're curious, and bright, and friendly, and you're... you're good, Rapunzel. Genuinely good, not just for other people. That all gives you worth.

I - [ Could refute everyone one of those claims with something her Mother told to counteract them.

You're welcome, but I'm only telling the truth. Please don't say you don't have worth again. That's a terrible thing to feel.

You can still feel something without saying it can't you?

Yeah, but I can't tell you to stop feeling something. There's no point. One day you'll see it.

And I think words give the feelings power. Like, if you feel down on yourself and other people back that up, it gets stronger. I think it can be the same with your own thoughts.

You really think so?

Yeah, I do. I have people telling me here all the time that I'm not boring or too bossy or ugly or worthless for my past, but my head keeps telling me it's not true because I've heard the opposite for so long. You can start bullying yourself after awhile.

[ That's a new perspective too, but it makes all the sense in the world. ]

Well... thank you, Rapunzel. But, um, people back home didn't like me very much. I liked to follow the rules and do things by the book, and they wanted to slack off and do what they wanted. So I got a bad reputation. I just wanted to be responsible.

I should have known! I'm really glad you're here now Nakama. No one's going to treat you poorly for being responsible now.
