[This is Maribelle. This is Maribelle, looking distinctly unimpressed. This is also her realizing that she might just be painting a giant target on her back. Any questions?]

Well, then. As though we all simply hadn't enough to deal with as things are, we now have a traitor in our midst. How very distressing! [cue a prudish sniff] As if we simply hadn't enough to deal with, now tensions are running high, and with barely a clue as to the identity of the culprit in sight.

Therefore, I have a proposal. I have heard that those of Loki's house are often gifted in telepathy, and those of my own - that is, Freya - may sometimes charm others. I wish to ask if anyone of Loki's house might wish to join with me, in order to question people.

Please, do not misunderstand me. I have absolutely no wish to even so much as attempt to force anyone, and I myself will gladly volunteer to be questioned, as well. However, I wish to at least narrow down the list of suspects. Even if we do not find the dastard, we can, at least, learn who the turncoat isn't, and any amount of information shall greatly help us.

Should anyone be interested in helping me, I shall gladly accept. Please do feel free to contact me.

[He interprets that pointed look in entirely the wrong way, but to be fair, it wouldn't have made a difference - he's already squarely on the defensive.] I'm not! I can't prove anything here, and as far as we know, he didn't cause any trouble so far... But trust me, okay? Just keep away from him.

[Maribelle sighs at that. On the one hand, she's inclined to trust Yosuke. On the other, she's inclined to treat everyone fairly.]

Yosuke, I thank you for your concern. However, I am disinclined to treat someone in a manner that would otherwise be unjust without proof.

Proof? [Adding to the surprises today might well be how quickly Yosuke's patience can wear thin. With anyone else, it can stand up to far more abuse than is good for him, but with this guy...] Hey, I just told you, there's no way to prove what he did off in another world! What's so hard to get?

I'm sorry, did you just act like an ill-mannered idiot? [Because pissing Maribelle off is totally going to help - and she's got one hell of a temper.]

But... I understand, Yosuke. I wasn't asking you for it. I was simply saying that without it, I cannot treat him as a criminal.

However, I shall also be keeping a close eye on him. Thank you, Yosuke.

[He rubs his forehead again, a little chastened by the yelling but not exactly mollified.] So I really can't convince you to just leave him well enough alone...?

I'm afraid not. [Especially considering that both she and her father were subject to malicious rumors, and her father almost died because of a false accusation... but Yosuke doesn't need to know that.]

[With a small sigh, he folds his arms. Geez, he still thinks this girl's cool and all, and he kind of gets what she's saying, but she's a real handful.] ...Okay. What are you gonna do to check that it's not just him? Besides ask a bunch of other people you don't know either?

["Handful" is an understatement, Yosuke.]

I... I do not know. To be honest, I don't really know anyone here.

[And guess who's never felt more lost in her entire life? Whoops.]

I will do whatever I can.

[His expression softens slightly. Okay, that was a little bit cute.] Well, like I said, if you need anything... I'm not another mind reader or anything crazy like that, but I'd rather pitch in than just sit back, you know? [He thinks for a second.] Like, do you need somewhere to set up for it, or is it just gonna be an out the back of a bedroom, collar them if you see 'em kind of deal?

[She's surprised by his concern, and a smile spreads over her face in gratitude.]

[She stops, thinking] I do need to find a place, but I have yet to find anything suitable.

A place? What kind of place? [He cocks his head.] If you mean just like a meeting place, there's - well, a bunch of the cafes and stuff are closing or busy with other things lately, but I'm pretty sure you could still find somewhere.

No, nothing like that at all. What I need to find is a base of operations. I've been looking, but I've found nothing as of yet.

As for a meeting place, if I need one, everyone can meet me in my rooms, if they wish.

Huh. Yeah, that wouldn't work as a base, come to think... You don't want people getting headaches and running off before you're done. But what kind of a base would you need for something like that? Just somewhere private to talk to them?

Yes, I would - and preferably somewhere all parties may feel safe.

[At that, he looks away, another small frown tugging at the corner of his mouth.] Well, I just told you what would make them safer...

[At that, Maribelle frowns.]

I'm talking about keeping him outta there. [He says it flatly, and still with an uncharacteristically distant look in his eyes.]

[Her eyes narrow at that.]

Yosuke, I understand your concern, but as I said, without proof there is no way I can justify treating him poorly. However, we are all going to be investigated, and a close eye will be kept on all of us.

Furthermore, I intend to partner with him in this endeavor, so that I myself might watch him.

[YOSUKE, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE.]

Seriously...? [Still, he doesn't press the point. He's guessing he wouldn't get far.

But presently he looks up again, and in an instant appears to get over himself.] Oh, actually - what about our headquarters? Souji's place, I mean. In Sigyn. We've been using it for orientations with some of the refugees, on and off, but apart from that, chances are it's more private than a random cafe on the street.

Ah, uh - [Was he that obvious after all? Dammit. On the other hand, she still doesn't appear to mind.] Yeah, sure thing! I head down there pretty often anyways. When do you wanna meet?

I am most often available in the mornings and the early afternoons. At night, I have training sessions, and I devote my late afternoons to the study of medicine.
