Well, then. As though we all simply hadn't enough to deal with as things are, we now have a traitor in our midst. How very distressing! [cue a prudish sniff] As if we simply hadn't enough to deal with, now tensions are running high, and with barely a clue as to the identity of the culprit in sight.

Therefore, I have a proposal. I have heard that those of Loki's house are often gifted in telepathy, and those of my own - that is, Freya - may sometimes charm others. I wish to ask if anyone of Loki's house might wish to join with me, in order to question people.

Please, do not misunderstand me. I have absolutely no wish to even so much as attempt to force anyone, and I myself will gladly volunteer to be questioned, as well. However, I wish to at least narrow down the list of suspects. Even if we do not find the dastard, we can, at least, learn who the turncoat isn't, and any amount of information shall greatly help us.

Should anyone be interested in helping me, I shall gladly accept. Please do feel free to contact me.

It has been said of me, aye. [ Understatement ] A wandering bard I was, before Asgard claimed me, and in my youth I once wished for nothing more than to be allowed the peace to play and learn. I fear I have only heard Master Hamel play the violin, and mourn the lost chance to hear yourself.

May this war not see your wishes come to naught! And if you mind it not, Lady Maribelle, I would not be adverse to questioning by such a fine lady as yourself.

[She feels a pang of regret at his words - it is her race's fault that the taguel and the manaketes are nearly extinct. But she is not personally responsible for their demise, and if she had been around for it, she would have fought to the death to protect them. That alone eases her conscience.] That is very kind. I should like to hear of your world, as well.

I would very much like to hear you play, if I might. I wonder if I might find a violin before this war comes to a head. A little music does wonders for the morale, you know.

I would hope that as few as possible should suffer the sting of death, and I shall do my best to see it so. And I certainly wouldn't mind speaking further with you. I am most grateful for your consideration.

[ He smiles at that ] Then one day, fortune willing, Lady Maribelle, we shall sit down and exchange tales over a glass or two. Hopefully it will not be too long a wait!

I think me Master Hamel's violin came with him from his world - and with the war as it stands, I do not know if any here might sell or make them, but many of the locals here have marvellous skill. And aye, tis true enough. [ A shadow seems to creep across his features, dimming the light in his eyes, here and then gone again, as his voice drops softer in memory ] Sometimes, it is all that keeps one going...

[ Shaking away his shadows he smiles again, a little smaller perhaps, and bows ] Then we shall see if we can find a way to make it so eh? I am only glad to be of assistance.

That sounds wonderful. [There's a tinge of weariness and sorrow to her words - she's only just gotten out of one war, and now she finds herself in another.] It is something to look forward to, at the least.

Indeed? Then I will have to search. It is often difficult to keep track of what one is fighting for, in wartime. [And without her dearest Lissa by her side, to say nothing of any of the other friends she made in the army, it's even harder.]

I will be sending out a message, when it is time. I do hope I don't disturb you, when I do.

We all need something to look forwards to. [ Maglor nods quietly in agreement ] A reminder of the reasons why we fight.

You will not be. [ he assures her ] If it will aid, I mind it not. I have seen enough in my life to understand that sometimes things must be.

Yes, we do - and there is precious little to look to in times of war.
