Well, then. As though we all simply hadn't enough to deal with as things are, we now have a traitor in our midst. How very distressing! [cue a prudish sniff] As if we simply hadn't enough to deal with, now tensions are running high, and with barely a clue as to the identity of the culprit in sight.

Therefore, I have a proposal. I have heard that those of Loki's house are often gifted in telepathy, and those of my own - that is, Freya - may sometimes charm others. I wish to ask if anyone of Loki's house might wish to join with me, in order to question people.

Please, do not misunderstand me. I have absolutely no wish to even so much as attempt to force anyone, and I myself will gladly volunteer to be questioned, as well. However, I wish to at least narrow down the list of suspects. Even if we do not find the dastard, we can, at least, learn who the turncoat isn't, and any amount of information shall greatly help us.

Should anyone be interested in helping me, I shall gladly accept. Please do feel free to contact me.

Just a question - how do you even plan on stopping telepaths from getting inside other people's heads?

Darling, I highly doubt that anyone with this ability has never even once given thought to using it before. After all, what is the use of abilities if one never makes use of them?

All of that talk about wanting to protect those who refuse goes void, since everyone will just have their thoughts read.

There can hardly be enough to read everyone in the city, else those who would do us harm would have gotten much further than this.

Furthermore, I, and other Charm users shall work to ensure those working with us are... less inclined towards cruelty. However, if you have any useful suggestions, then do bring them up.

Everyone in the city no, but all the travelers? Oh, you bet it's easy. [ doing the math, if one telepath meet four travelers a day, after a month they'd have read about 120 minds. Two or three telepaths would do it in no time.

Tokage shrugs ] Honestly, you all talk about reading minds like it's a "cool idea". Privacy really is a foreign subject to you people, isn't it?

You say that as though they couldn't have been doing that already. I at least intend to put it to decent use, if I can.

I rather dislike the idea of a lack of privacy - much as I dislike your assumptions. We do deserve our privacy, but in times of war, it is best to be ever vigilant, especially considering what is at stake. [Honestly, she doesn't give a damn about what happens to her, as long as her loved ones back home are safe.]

But I have known war. I have seen death. I have struggled to save countless villages our enemies would have burnt to the ground, if only because they were part of e kingdom of Ylisse. I know very well what we risk, and what is at stake. But if I have to give my life to keep as many people as safe as I can, then so be it.

And I shall be keeping as close an eye on those I work with as much as anyone else, if not more so.

Don't confuse it, little girl, this isn't about your noble intentions to sacrifice yourself nor about me wanting to help you with that. This is about you setting in motion something that will mess with others at a very personal level - and most likely me.

For one thing, I will thank you to remember your manners around me, rather than acting like a lowborn cur.

For another, I believe I have already made my point about those with telepathy already being able to cause harm. If you truly think I am the one to bring this idea to the minds of all those who would do ill with it, especially considering how long this appears to have been going on, you are truly quite naive.

I only take offense when I am being insulted. [And when people breathe the wrong way. But Maribelle often doesn't realize when she is being too clever by half - that is, too much for her own good and not enough to keep harm away.]
