[John is standing near his new "house", fiddling with his bracelet. He's taken everything he's heard and let it sink in before finally seeing what this bracelet can do. He's familiar enough with smartphones and webcams that he gets the hang of it fairly quickly.

His eyes glance over his shoulder to Loki house, then back to the camera. He gives his audience a charming smile]

Can someone please explain to me why Loki's colors have to be orange? I know we serve under the god of mischief, but do we have to look so tacky doing it?

Wow. Yeah, no offense, but your town sounds like it should be an attraction at a children's amusement park.

[Whale can't help but laugh because hah, the town's entirely populated by fairy tales and John's talking about children's amusement parks.]

I'll give you that much. [a pause] Anyway, what's your name? Cause really, 'lookalike who's in Loki' is a bit too long for my tastes.

John Gilbert. You can just call me John.

Dr. Whale, but just call me Whale. [he gives a little nod at the screen, smiling slightly.] Welcome to Asgard, John.

Thank you, Whale.

So you're in Baldr house, huh? You like it over there?

Could be better, could be worse. Have to get readjusted to this whole 'communal space' nonsense.

Ah, just think of it like a college dorm room. Mine even comes with a slide so people can take the lazy way down.

Mine's got a slide also. [a pause and a frown because that's weird.] Do you think all of the houses have that ridiculous slide?

No idea, but we can ask around. Heh, and for a moment I thought the slide was a Loki thing.

I thought it was just Asgard being stupid--there's no way that Asshole God would put a slide in our house on purpose.

[he smiles] So should I be expecting Asgard to be stupid often?

I've only been here for about a month and it's been pretty stupid so far.

How bad are we talking?

Talking flowers and magical comas.

[which really, Whale has more experience with the latter than the former, but it's still fairly stupid in his mind.]

Magical comas aren't anything that unusual. The flowers thing... well, I haven't seen them since my days experimenting with drugs.

Wait, what do you mean magical comas aren't anything unusual? Don't tell me Mystic Falls has magical nonsense as well? [and here he was hoping you were fairly normal, John...]

My town's been a magnet for the supernatural for centuries, doctor. Though having the gods get involved is a new one for me...

Supernatural how? Are we talking fairies and witches or werewolves and ghosts?

[or fairies and witches and werewolves, THANKS STORYBROOKE.]

Witches, werewolves, vampires... wouldn't be surprised if we had ghosts.

I am so sorry.

It would've been worse if my ancestor hadn't left weapons and helpful tips behind.

'Killing Vampires For Dummies?' [he can't help but raise an eyebrow and laugh a bit at that.] Props to your ancestors--it's rare that people actually have foresight.

[an amused noise. If only Johnathan's journals were as understandable as "For Dummies" books]

And now that I'm here, it's time to start a journal of Asgard. I'd love to get your insights, if you can manage to tear yourself away from the lovely halls of Baldr.

I haven't been here as long as others but I'll gladly tell you what I know. Name the time and place.

I'd have to know the places first. I'm meeting a lovely young lady soon; I'll ask her to show me around.
