[ Effie said to make himself presentable, so here he is, freshly showered and clean. So fresh, in fact, that his hair is still wet and dripping onto the same shirt he was wearing yesterday ( possibly the day before that too, but who's keeping count? Not Haymitch! ). He smiles, so very pleasantly. ]

A dear friend of mine told me to announce my presence and make some new friends, and I thought to myself, now, Haymitch, that is a great idea. We've all been kidnapped to fight the same war with our feelings, maybe I should make some friends.

[ He spreads his arms wide with a warm grin. ]

So what do you say, gang? Hug it out before we all die bloody?

[ There's an indignant screech from somewhere offscreen, and Effie shouts; ]

Haymitch!

[ To which, he just laughs and holds up his hands in surrender while she comes and slaps off the feed before he can do anything else horrible. ]

[Her tone instantly takes on a slightly more gentle approach than with the rest -- however morbid and horrendous it is, Effie deals with children rather frequently.]

And what power do you have? Have you used it yet?

[She's not sure she believes she has a power, but hey.]

I'm in House Freyr, and I have Drawing. That means when you draw things it becomes real if you think hard enough. I used it once, I drew a cat. It didn't look like a real cat though, and it didn't move. But I drew a spoon and somehow the spoon became real.

[ If not very tiny. It was a very useless spoon. ]

[ ... ooh.]

I was told I have that same skill.

Maybe you'll be better at it than I am. I'm not very good at it even before it became a power.

Creating art, drawing -- you simply have to have passion in what you're doing. The talent will follow soon after.

[ He's not sure what his passion is, really. So far in his life he merely go through his days. ]

Do you like to draw?

I wouldn't say that I'm an artist, but I enjoy it from time to time.

[Peeta is far and beyond more talented than she will ever be. To her it's really just a fun little hobby.]

[ It's bitter instead of sarcastic. He needs more liquor. ]

[ He's probably here because he's the Antichrist, but who knows. ]

Well, I guess that depends how well you use them. They won't be safe unless you want them to be.

[ That's so metal. ]

And what do you want, kid?

[ That's a good question, if Jesse were a completely different person. What he wants is in another world entirely, and even if he's home he'll never live a normal life again.

There's really no point in that sort of questions anymore, not for Jesse, at least. ]

I dunno. I just got here. All I know I can do things with drawings, and all I have now are the clothes I'm wearing. The best I can hope for is I can get out of the way, whatever bad stuff happens.

Good thinking. Sounds right along the lines of my own plans.

[ Or so he says. Haymitch will be probably in the thick of things when the time calls for it. ]
