12th Mishmash ~ [Video]
[ The moment the Doctor gets back into the city, he turns on the bracelet to, well. Announce his return. Except the moment it's started recording he seems to remember something, and instead he starts patting himself down, runs his tongue over his teeth and touches his chin and his nose and runs his fingers through his hair.
His hair which... isn't the same colour it usually is. But, naturally, he doesn't know that.
Ladies and gentlemen, the Doctor has ended up ginger. Temporarily, but he sure is ginger. ]
I still have the same body. Same chin, same nose, same teeth, same height, same everything. I died and I didn't change!
That is weird.
[ And he laughs, because it really is, and he starts walking about and basically doing... all sorts of things with his arms and legs, hopping and jumping and waving his hands. Because it sure feels exactly the same.
After a few moments of that, he starts talking. ]
Hello, everyone, I'm back! Did you miss me?
[ Before he ends the feed, he spreads his arms with a grin. ]

Exactly? Ohh... If you want exactly, I'll have to get back to you on that, that's a bit difficult. But I've changed ten times, one which was forced so I didn't technically die, and then there was one time I really died, as in it would have been permanent if I wasn't saved.

Ten times. How do you mean forced? No, I think I get the idea. It's just. Different from back home. With these gods, I guess death isn't permanent for us here either.
I think...hell, there were so many times I could have died back home. Frak, for all I know, I have died back there in that storm chasing that cylon raider. But...you know, death wasn't what I was scared of. I went out there day after day, trying to shoot down those cylons before they got me. I guess you wouldn't be scared of death either, if it wasn't permanent.

[ He pauses, frowns, shakes his head. ]
I've been scared. I'm not immortal, I just live longer. Could have lived forever, if my life never became what it is, but that would have been dull.
I'm not scared of permanent death either anymore. Not my own.

[That sounds. Pretty major, whatever he might have done to piss his people off that much. Even if death wasn't permanent for them.]
Bright shiny futures are over-rated anyway right? What's the point in living if you don't have fun and take some risks?
Me neither. I guess it comes with risking my ass every day, knowing eventually some metal mother-frakker will catch me on a bad one and blow me away. No, what I am scared of is...is being forgotten.

[ He laughs a little. ]
Because I thought exactly that way. What's the point in living if you don't live? What's the point in having the knowledge of time and space travel and not use it?
[ A pause. ]

Would be pretty pointless. I mean, sure we've had ftl travel, but we never really used it until after the cylons attacked and we went in search of Earth. Found places we'd only read about in scripture before then. So...I know what you mean.
Yeah? Well, join the club then. [She sounds oddly, almost amused at that, but it isn't something that she generally goes around telling everyone. She just gets the impression he has seen and done so much more than she can even imagine. The death of Earth.]

But of course I wasn't happy. Not really all that more annoyed than I usually am at them, though. Some days were worse.
[ He just won't mention the exile to Earth. That angered him so much more than the regeneration did. ]
At least you humans can never resist getting out there for long. Time Lords have always stayed in their studies and observed. Except for me, and a few others. I suppose my generation was the worst of them all.

Well, we're all about exploring and colonizing and all that good stuff. Just sitting around doing nothing would be boring. I'd never want a desk job myself at least. Your generation was the worst, most rebellious then?

You could say we were pretty good at being rebellious. A desk job isn't too bad, actually, at least for a little bit.

I'm too..hands on, I guess, to really even consider myself appropriate for a cushy desk job. That's why after I busted my knee and lost my chance going professional with pyramid, I went into the military.
