[There's a small exhalation as Leo starts to talk. It sounds like he's been thinking about this for quite a while.]

I gotta admit... I don't know much about this place, but it sounds like a lot of you want to go and save this Freyr guy. I don't know that much about him other than his name and that he used to be a God, but.... I want to save him too. But if we're going to be travelling together, then I guess I gotta keep a few less secrets huh? Some of you have heard my voice already, but only a few of you have actually seen me in person. Well, there's a pretty good reason for that...

[With a sigh, Leo presses the button on his bracelet that turns it on to video mode, showing him off in all his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle glory.]

My name is Leonardo, and I'm a ninja.... among other things. I was born an ordinary turtle, but when my brothers and I were babies, we fell into a puddle of this alien ooze and...

[He gestures around with his hands.]

Here I am now.

And just for the record, I still think this is a bad idea. You have no idea how many of my sensei's orders I just broke by doing this, but... if I'm going to be fighting on the same side or doing whatever we need to do to save Freyr, then I don't want any of you to attack me thinking I'm not on your side.

You don't have to thank me, it's true. [She swallows, glancing away from the feed.] I kept one of my biggest secrets from a lot of people until I thought we'd never be seeing one another again, and... it just ended up hurting a lot of them. It's better to be open, as scary as it is.

Well that's the thing about secrets. They can be self-destructive, even if you keep them for good reason.

[He sighs.]

I have a feeling I'm still gonna pay for letting this one out of the bag though. Especially if my Master comes here and sees this.

It's the right thing to do, though, I'm sure you can make him see that. Someone with skills like yours will be so important to us when we have to fight... it would be awful of you to hide away because you were afraid of people seeing you.

Skills like mine? C'mon, all I said was that I was a ninja. I never said I was a good one.

[He's trying to be humble, but if he sounds like he's enjoying her complimenting him, it's only because he is.]

Well... most humans tend to give me a pretty good reason. No offense, but back in my world, there are only two humans who I can really say are our friends, and one of them's a blind guy.

I know this world has different rules, but... [A shrug.] Old habits, I guess?

I'm... sorry. [She hangs her head, looking stricken.] Humans can be just as terrible to our own kind, believe me... people don't like anything that doesn't fit their tiny picture of how the world should be. But it is different here, I promise, and even if a few people are mean to you, I know that almost everyone will really respect you for joining us.

[Then something fierce comes over her expression, and she looks up again.] And if they don't like it, I'll talk to them.

Don't worry, I'm not holding it against them or anything. I'd probably react the same way they do if I was a human. I'm not one of those crazy mutants who thinks all humanity should kneel before me or anything.

[He laughs.]

Then you're a good person, too. [Even more earnestly.] It's easy to hold a grudge. Forgiving is way harder.

[At the laugh, she blushes a little, wondering if she just looked silly speaking up with such force to defend a ninja.] Nakama. Well, um - Mako Nakarai, on the bracelets, but I go by Nakama.

I'm not about to hold a grudge just because some gets scared.

It's nice to meet you Nakama-san. I'm glad I can say I have more than 2 human friends now.

You'll have lots of them here. [She sounds earnest, almost determined.] People don't judge as much here. I don't know if they were chosen for that, or if it's just being away from home that does it, but... everyone is a lot more understanding. You'll be fine.

Well I'm sure the common goal and situation has something to do with it. Like it or not, we're all a team now. Whatever problems we might have with each other gotta go on the back burner, otherwise we'll all fall.

[He laughs a little.]

I guess even humans know that.

Sometimes we do. It can still be hard to get people to come together, even when the most important things are at stake.

[A sad chuckle.]

Don't be so hard on yourself. We turtles have trouble with that too.
