૪4 video | open action for Draupnir
[He didn't know what sudden whim had prompted him to suddenly test the extent of the gift he'd been bestowed, turning on the feed to one of the more spacious rooms of Draupnir with him sitting neatly at the piano. Maybe it was the lack of any proper sleep over the last several days as some may notice at this point, but he begins with a short piece that should do more than enough to stir feelings of nostalgia and comfort to those who hear it, perhaps even coax into a warm sense of tiredness. Those close enough might find their surroundings thinly veiled by fog, but it was little enough that they might not even notice after some distance.
However, the music evolves into another melody that quickly disperses the somber peace of before and replaces it with a sense of urgency, sadness, but at the same time an overwhelming hope and plea. Those who knew Eyes Rutherford personally would never have suspected such strong emotions were coming from his creation, and te powerful loneliness would be the most poignant of anything else felt.
But halfway through his hands stop and fall to his sides, the pianist closing his eyes and bowing his head almost as though in prayer as the soft illusions created by him fade. He won't finish it just yet.]

So I've been told since childhood. Have you ever heard other performances?
no subject
Ah, my mother, when I was really little. I can't remember much of it, though. Many of the young women where I'm from are expected to learn, but I --
[ She circles her wrist to fill the lapse in words, searching for the right ones. ]
I guess I just never got around to it. You must really love it, to have become that good.
no subject
A shame you didn't go through with it, but there is still a possibility to continue wouldn't you say?
no subject
Only partly?
[ His inquiry catches her off guard, and she blinks, pausing to mull over it a moment. ] Maybe. All I remember is hot cross buns, and even that I'm a little rusty on, though. If you're ever in the mood to give lessons, I'd be interested -- I just don't have the means to compensate you yet.
no subject
All Travellers are compensated with enough to be comfortable while they are here, many simply choose to eek employment anyway. I assume you only just arrived?

It's first day. Everything's so different here, but if I'm needed, then I'm sure I can get used to all of it. [ The smile upon her lips is honest now, and even though there is exhaustion in her features, the smile has found its way to her bright blue eyes as she cants her head a little. ] Have you been here long?
no subject
I've been here since us Travellers first began to arrive.

[ But the words are quietly spoken, tinged with thought, as she shrugs her shoulders -- pressing the side of her head against the door frame as she pauses to study the male before her, smile still lingering, but a bit softer now. ]
Or maybe it really is real. I haven't decided yet.
[ The admission causes her to blink in surprise. ] Then you must know everything about this place.
no subject
I would not make a claim to know everything, but I do like to believe I am well-informed of what has been made available.

I think I'd like to avoid any injury for as long as I can manage.
But I am serious about becoming a student, if you're interested in teaching.
[ Her gaze cuts away, sweeping across the dual coloured keys of the piano as she tucks a few messy blonde strands behind her ear. ] I think this is the first time I've ever actually regretted not putting more effort into it.
no subject
You wouldn't be the first student I would have taken in, but you would be the only one if you choose.

Perhaps that's why she's confused when her feet seem to be set into the floor as her perhaps to-be teacher gestures toward the piano, and her pulse gives a very sudden, very short flutter. Suddenly the instrument seems so much more intimidating than before, the line of dual coloured keys marching on forever.
The devil's contracts had nothing on the piano. ]
You don't mind students who hardly remember how to read treble clef, and know nothing of bass?
[ But she has made up her mind. Abandoning the sanctuary of the doorway, she offers her instructor a smile, dipping easily into a seat upon the bench as she ghosts her fingers overtop the keys, never pressing hard enough to create sound. ]

But we should begin your education there, or you may demonstrate what it is you do remember.

[ And then her fingers shift, searching out the f sharp minor chord, but one finger slips to find the C instead of the C#, earning a sound that causes her to cringe, dissolving into quiet laughter as she draws her hand back into her lap. ] But that's about it, I think.
I'm Leonie, by the way. What's your name?
no subject
Leonie, Eyes Rutherford. Which house would you happen to be part of?
no subject
It's nice to meet you.
[ Leonie grins to herself, slipping her hand free to extend upward, awaiting Eyes Rutherford's. ]
I'm in Odin. Is it far from here? To be completely honest, I'm a bit lost. What house are you in?
no subject
I would be in Freyr House, and that would be the district we are in now, just on its edges. If you wish to reach Odin, the quickest way would be to cut through Freya and Baldr Districts.
no subject
I'll remember all of that eventually. How long did it take you to .. To get used to everything here?
[ A little softer, as if debating inquiring. ]
I'm still baffled by all the grey.
no subject
It's a matter of either getting used to it, or helping in the efforts to restore it again.
I'm so sorry; real life really had me running. :c Forgive me?
So you've been filling this place with colour, then. You're really an asset here. I hope to be able to say the same about myself in a few years.
[ Have a small, playful grin. He has earned it, in her eyes. ]
Is this your favorite place in all of Asgard?
It's fine, don't worry about it! c:
As for favourite haunts, I wouldn't use that term for it necessarily. It's simply where I am most often.
