I would always choose to follow a wise king, he would know when to be harsh, and when to show mercy. A wise king would lead by example, listen to those around him, and judge according to what he sees and not what he thinks to be true.

[ The problems with wise kings is that they are won over by courts and trials. They are swayed by court. Power eventually corrupts and Robb continuously wants to believe he is above this. That he is so much more, but he worries constantly about what he can and cannot do. This whole inquiry to the network is coming up as a compilation that Robb wants to possess when he gets back home. ]

[ Arthur has to contemplate this one for a good, long while. He's at odds with his own King while facing the looming future of his own ascent to the throne, and he has never been more conflicted. ]

Kingship is hardly so easy a task. "Harsh" and "wise" - it is difficult to know the meaning of the words when one man may claim another's wisdom to be cruelty. There must exist an even balance between the two, if the King is to serve his people as he is meant to.

[ If there is anyone who can relate to this it is Robb. Times may be harsher in Westeros, but the story of Camelot's succession is equally a tragic one. Robb knows what it is to be put in such a situation. ]

There are more things a King must concern themselves with than what is harsh, than what is wise. And what is his purpose?

What one may want in a king does not always make him effective with his power. Even with preferences, one will never know the true character of a man, and what is preferred in theory can become easily despised in the course of its action. And so, a good allegiance is between men who understand such things.
