001 ; video (or action for Odin)
[The masked face is not the only thing appearing on the video feed - Tali is sitting in what some may recognise as the dining room of Odin's Welcome Hall, and in her other hand is a glass of orange juice. She's had long enough time here and experience that what she's going to treat as a holographic interface is easy enough to work with naturally by now.]
Well, I've been here for a couple of days now and.... I don't know, I guess I'm past the denial stage, and I should just introduce myself - [She decides at the last possible moment not to include 'Admiral', and pauses for a split-second.] Tali'Zorah vas Normandy. Call me Tali. I'm in the Odin house, not that I know much about what that means to me yet.
I mean, I'm still not convinced this isn't some kind of simulation, or I've been indoctrinated, or... although, if we've been harvested for some kind of Reaper experiment, it's a lot more benign than I would expect - less horrifying liquidisation for genetic material and more... gods and... magic and 'honourable tasks', and I still don't get how I'm supposed to-- [She cuts off. Rambling. Nervous habit. She lets out a breath and changes the subject rather awkwardly.]
I guess I'm still dealing with the denial. Anyway, I wanted to ask something. I've never eaten human food before, and this juice hasn't killed me yet. [She holds up the glass.] What would you recommend I start with? [And despite that she's still not sure it won't kill her, she sounds almost as excited as nervous. Probably partly because she's been subsisting on water and orange juice since she got here.]

Fair enough. So-- why are you worried about juice being the ultimate equalizer?

I don't know anything about your species, these questions are simply meant to narrow down to any reccomendations. Do you eat meat or anything like it?

Trust me, there's no such thing as basic here. I don't even know what ramen is.

Those fruits are small, so they're great if you just want to try with having to waste a lot of fruit.

[ a lot of that kind of went over her head, and Fina was sure she didn't really feel like explaining, so she'll just ignore that. ]
Um.. why don't you try fruit, or fish? There's so many different things to try. Tea is nice, too..

[She leans forward on her forearms.] Most people are saying I should start with fruit or fish or bread. To be honest, I'm going to have to go and find out what kinds there are, what you have to do with them.... Keelah, eating rations was less complicated.

Oh, as for food, people have already made the suggestions I was going to - Rice, bread, fruits, fish. I'd also suggest green, raw vegetables which are mild but good for you and steamed vegetables like carrot, green beans, asparagus. Maybe boiled squash, too.
If it isn't too much of an imposition to answer - what do you normally eat if not 'Human' food? Maybe that will help me think of suggestions better suited to your tastes?

Got it. [She glances in the direction of the kitchen.] There's food here, I'm just not sure what any of it is. I should start checking - look around the city some more. The map says there's a library nearby... [Not that she would be going to cookery books first if she went in there, and she knows it.]
I eat rations. That's all we eat - quarians, my species. We live in space and everything we eat has to be sterilised. Plus, our body-chemistry isn't the same as a human's. Usually I wouldn't be able to even digest human food. I don't really have tastes when it comes to food.
