Out of curiosity, I'd like to poll you, Asgard...

What do you think is the best display of defiance? Things like flipping someone off, or maybe something stupid and vain like...flipping your hair. Which "fuck you" would you be most inclined to give? Which is most insulting, and do you think those more vain gestures are pointless or effective in those situations?

There's a reason for this. Don't ask because it isn't important.

There's nothing wrong with a good hairflip if you can pull it off.

Why do you think it's effective? Do you just like doing it out of vanity or does it signify some sort of insult?

I suppose it depends on circumstances, but I wouldn't call it vanity.

I was never a fan of subtlety. Some people don't respond to it too well. You really wanna show someone you mean business, then fucking show them you mean business.

I don't see the point in any of these minor gestures. They accomplish and prove nothing.

Is that so. So what do you do when you get confrontational?

If it is something minor, then it's a waste of time and effort to contend. If something more major and pressing, then it requires more than any of the methods you mentioned.

There are situations that fall inbetween those extremes.

Such as?

An argument where the person is too insistent and irritating to simply be ignored, but isn't threatening enough to seriously defend yourself from.

One can simply leave the confrontation, then.

Actions and responses such as those in your examples are nothing more than a false show of pride and accomplish nothing.

H-hmph. You never specified such details. If it’s just a fight or a disagreement it would be easier to not do the hairflip. Not unless you want to come off as effeminate.

That's the opposite of what I meant! I'm trying to prove to someone that nobody is intimidated by flipping your hair.

Of course no one is intimidated by such a gesture. Who do you know who does that? Naturally the answer is no one and that’s because it just makes you look like a complete idiot.

STEP THREE: GO TO FUCKING TOWN.
