still don't get why the people in charge don't just hire a team of landscapers and a bunch of people to paint everything
that'd be a lot easier, right?

[You know, lacking in choices and all that. It's hard to take things into your own hands when your hands are (not exactly literally) tied.]

No, they can't. It'd be neat if people did know. Sort of? I think? Or would that be stepping on people's toes a little too much?
Saw a movie about that once-- turned all dystopia.

That's when we get dictatorships. Besides, even if they do actually know what's best for everyone, most people don't like being told what to do just "because"

...what if you said "because A is bad for you compared to B"? Usually, if you put up a good argument most people kind of go along with the logic.
I don't really believe in that, but just for debate's sake.

You seem much too smart to believe it, don't worry.
People don't tend to present it that way. If they see an absolute, they argue the absolute. Or are vague enough with their end option if things don't go as they want that no one listens. It also gets back to people not wanting to listen past their own opinions.

People have free will for a reason. Some people use it for the better, some not so much.

Just saying.

You never know when someone's going to make you drink hemlock.

Y'know, only having to worry about someone trying to feed me hemlock sounds a helluva lot safer than what I'm doing now. Maybe I'll take it.
What's your name, anyways?

[A pause.]
Ethan. [As much as he'd like to go back and be just 'Desmond Miles', all things considered, who knows what might happen, and where Templars might be hiding. Best for everyone else too keep them oblivious so some things.] You?
